    1 - 101 Main St. | Broad Canal Zoning + Development | Cambridge

Wow, they're finally add a final tower there. That is the last available parcel on this stretch. With this, MXD, and MIT's projects including the Ragon expansion, every parcel from the Longfellow Bridge to Windsor will be filled. That arcade would be amazing. This is an excellent project...

Graduate Junction (MIT West Campus) | 269-301 Vassar St | Cambridge

This looks wayyyy worse than the orange building IMO. The orange building is...more boring that it could have/should have been, but at least it has personality and isn't dreary to look at.

Yeah, but I think Building 46 was already problematic enough, no? There isn't enough clearance there for a viaduck. Why not a trench/overpass? Seems much more doable.

Graduate Junction (MIT West Campus) | 269-301 Vassar St | Cambridge

I think this might be the ugliest set of buildings MIT has proposed in a long time. That, or these renderings are not doing it justice. It looks like a housing project from the 1970s.

To be fair, Stata Center was much more prominent before they hid it with building 76.

MIT Stephen A. Schwarzman College of Computing | Kendall Square | Cambridge

Wow it's...so boring. I'm not saying it has to be Stata, but I feel like that corner, with building 46 and Stata, should embrace bolder architecture. I don't see why this would mean we're stuck with street level crossings forever? This building was never the limiting factor on that.

The Engine (MIT) | 730-750 Main Street | Cambridge

I believe it is in an infill thread, MIT infill IIRC. But, it's probably big enough to have its own thread, if moderators want to merge it into here? Up to the mods though.

Middlesex County Courthouse Redevelopment | 40 Thorndike St | East Cambridge

I think the biggest issue for why you'd want to redo a building like this is not because of aesthetics, but usability. Working in that building with those tiny slat windows looks awful.

MIT Museum/Book Store | née Boeing | 314 Main St. | Kendall Square

Ah...I guess the auditorium became "The Exchange" at some point.

MIT Museum/Book Store | née Boeing | 314 Main St. | Kendall Square

I'm confused. I thought 314 was going to have the museum and an auditorium, and the MIT Press Bookstore was moving back to site 4. Did I have that wrong? Will they be able to fit all three things in one building?

MIT Museum/Book Store | née Boeing | 314 Main St. | Kendall Square

I don't know if this has been mentioned (and I think this calls for a title change): I walked by this building a few days ago. Inside, there were three names listed on a board, presumably as the current tenants. The name is different from the previously reported suspects: IBM (the MIT-IBM...

    585 Kendall | 585 Third Street | Kendall Square

It was (is) literally zoned for arts. Constellation Center aside, that's what the land was used for. This thing's "auditorium" holds...what was it, a maximum of 300 people? Great. I think people don't realize just how small the arts component of this actually is.

    585 Kendall | 585 Third Street | Kendall Square

I am legitimately disappointed with this. That space was intended for arts in what is an arts desert. I'm all for the lab tower, but the first three floors of that building should have been dedicated to arts. That would have been a huge contribution to the community. This is yet another lab...

Assembly Square Infill and Small Developments | Somerville

Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded.

Kendall Common ( née Volpe Redevelopment) | Kendall Sq | Cambridge

I am less concerned as to why the tall building is not so tall and more concerned why the shorter buildings are not so tall...and why there isn't density in other ways.

Seaport Neighborhood - Infill and Discussion

The buzz cut is fine and unavoidable; I think different (vertically) shaped roofs might have helped rather than make them all flat top.

I will miss the big box stores if they go. They're really useful to have in that location.

I think some of the others here are nicer, but I dunno, this picture made me smile whenever I saw it. Something about the lush green against the sky blue glass. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/47097218254_20a88fc465_h.jpg
