    Graffiti Images, Art, or Nuisance

The issue with murals painted on walls is that you need to have funds to keep them up. When I was in grad school we looked into doing our final scenic painting project on a retaining wall just like this one, but the city said no becasue we would need to not just supply the art but also thousands...

    Worcester | Canal District infill/discussion

Looks like the Lucky Dog will be torn down for "the Gold Block". 318 apartments is nothing to shake a stick at, but I cant help but feel a sense of loss at losing the Lucky Dog. https://patch.com/massachusetts/worcester/amp/29452218/318-apartment-development-proposed-in-worcesters-canal-district

I think one of the things we are missing with the "most expensive minor league ball park" is the timing of the construction. This was built over the pandemic when materials prices soared. Sheets of CDX ply were up to almost $100 a sheet for a while. Yes, it was more expensive than it should have...

MGH Ragon Building | 55 Fruit Street | West End

Not another hospital looking like its eating a historic structure. Mass Eye and Ear was 1 too many. Does this make 3 now?

I'd bet that has to do with lighting. Keep the old lights in place until you put in new ones so you dont need to install tons of temporary lighting.

its super industrial looking in a "built in the 1960's warehouse" sort of way, but so is the area where they put it. interesting contextualizing and nostalgia for a period and building type people don't usually think about, I'd have to go see it to make up my mind on if it works or not.

Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial | Boston Common | Downtown

They are reaching up, and with a little bit of scale optical illusion it would be so easy to make it look like its about to grab someone's junk or chest. Do I need to do the photoshops? Im sure i cant be the only one seeign this as what is going to happen... this view is the most egregious side...

Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial | Boston Common | Downtown

@stick n move , I appreciate your optimism, but a giant statue of hands won't be having people hugging under it no matter what the renderings say. The pics people will take are lewd optical allusions where it looks like the hands are grabbing at body parts, people flashing hand gestures infront...

Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial | Boston Common | Downtown

I don't think that this sculpture can really be compared to the Chicago Bean. Cloud Gate (the actual name of the Bean) is sculpture for sculptures sake while the King Memorial is a monument to a specific person (or persons if we say it is for MLK and CSK). With the Bean the meaning is what ever...

Widett Circle Development, so it begins.

wow. I always forget just how much space there is here between the highways, train tracks, parking lots, and Widett Circle itself.

You could say that. Harvard just stripped his name from the first building he ever designed, which they own, becasue of all this. Look up The Johnson Study Group if you want more of the story.

500 Boylston Infill | 500 Boylston St | Back Bay

I said this in another thread a few days ago, but it is worth repeating here, Philip Johnson was a literal Nazi and much of his architecture reflects a facist ideology. he went to Hitler Youth rallies, he wrote a glowing review of Mein Kampf and published it, he effectively segregated the MoMA...

Kenmore Square North (WHOOP) | 533-541 Commonwealth Ave | Fenway

Personally I just really hate stacked brick pattern (as opposed to a running pattern or a more intricate pattern) It just always feels like the bricks aren't actually "working" if that makes any senses. When they are in a running pattern you can see the bricks interlocking and they feel like...
