Could we at least chop off the ".org" from the old ugly logo? The URL is ".com" ... or get rid of the box in a box

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

    Ohhh you're right! Awesome find.

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Ugh. God that's so dull. Such a disappointingly typical VE of public infrastructure in this city... Is there a more recent presentation your pulling that screenshot from? I couldn't find anything updated on the bpda site.

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Yeah probably. The rendering is very ambiguous - I swear that's a board form texture I've used a hundred times before, but maybe just some notional tile of something with hairline vertical joints . The earlier iteration even showed a zoomed out view of an edge with seemingly raked concrete...

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

At the risk of sounding petty or a downer (these are great photos and very cool to see the formwork come down), these arches look quite a bit more typical than the elegant catenary-like ones we saw in the rendering. The spring point is much higher and the proportions are more stumpy - nearly...

View Boston (Observatory) | Prudential Tower | Back Bay

I thought exactly the same lmao. What a bland and soulless set of renderings. The 3rd one with that platform and selfie zones:rolleyes: show the most "design." But it looks way too far from the glass to be any use? Half of their photos are gunna be just blank floor behind them and then skyline...

    Crane Pix Past and Present

Can we stop taking photos from moving cars. Also stop zooming in digitally to the point where the subject is group of 20 blurry pixels. The image with the iPhone camera UI (presumably from a screenshot) made me laugh though lol

North End Cross Street Boutique Hotel | 42 Cross Street | North End

I wish the bright silver accent trim and window mullions were a darker finish. I'm also disappointed by the brickwork as shown. Feels very color-by-number and the checkerboard patterns don't have enough room to resolve or integrate in those small strips between more silver trim. Also unclear to...

Davis Square Lab | 231-249 Elm Street and Grove Street | Somerville

All the curved corners, custom masonry, and fluted brick are certainly not cheap. This looks quite nice to me. Hold off judging the material quality based on crappy enscape renderings - brick will never render out properly.

Would love a dark mode for the site, at least on desktop.

Wow. What a warm and welcoming street level.

401 Park Drive (née Landmark Center) | Fenway

WOAH. They're finally putting up the next level of mech screen above the top floor. That support structure has sat empty since the new year almost.

It should remain glass. You can tell by the lack of stand-off tabs where the fins would attach (can see them in the smaller patches waiting to be filled).

BU Data Sciences Center | 665 Commonwealth Avenue | BU Central

The missing fins are indeed missing and are not a design move. They will be filled in.

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

It's the permanent art they've had displayed since last year. So not pride related.

1400 Boylston Street | Star Market & Gulf | Fenway

Ramler is tiny and virtually invisible to the intersection (I pass here along Park every day and didn't know it existed until recently). If they put some restaurant/drinking anchor tenant in the ground floor that opens onto the park, it would be a nice twin to 401. Or if was more food-truck...

7INK (née Ollie) | 217 Albany St | South End

There's a pretty substantial dissonance between Architects, Architecture "enthusiasts" (probably most of this board), and the general public unfortunately.

Lyrik Back Bay | 1001 Boylston Street (Parcel 12) | Back Bay

To be fair, this thing bore the brunt of material shortages and cost inflations over the course of it's design-construction handover. Their contingency is probably a joke at this point.
