The visibility of the ground floor piece at the intersection of Blackstone and Hanover is nice. It's very open and glassy. Can't recall if the restaurant is going there or just upstairs.
It's really pretty amazing how fast the cladding on this is going up. They're easily doing 1-2 floors per week while other projects in the area are lucky to do that in a month.
This is still atrocious looking and it baffles me how it's the work of Studio Gang. Such an incoherent mess of some structural idea (a treehouse? really?). Could they even bother to properly orient the texture map of the wood grain on the exterior beams? Essentially the signature design move of...
The tilt out of the windows on the Boylston face is too shallow of an angle and looks like a mistake rather than an intentional design move. I'm getting echos of the unintelligible facade of its neighbor...
I quite like some of the rear facades with the taller windows in brick and square tilted...
Excellent proportions. Interesting façade treatment. This is the best "tower" of the last year. One of the few things going up now with decent architectural merit.
Parklets on the north side will be shaded for the majority of the year and uninviting to be in.
I don't have strong feelings about the proposal, but the clamoring for a streetwall is overblown imo. The Landmark Plaza park across the fens has the same orientation, receives a ton of sun, and is...
Wooo boy...
I think you take this place, the internet, and maybe yourself far too seriously/personally if likes are really giving you that much validation.
But you do you.
I believe the answer to those understandable questions is answered in research and understanding of the tech itself. Least of all literally googling "nuclear fusion safety."
And trust in the scientists/professionals doing the work itself.
The irony here - one thread complaining about people not accepting more height and supertall developments in their neighborhood, the other pearl clutching about arguably vital next-gen power generation with a proven safety record and clear explanation to its safe R&D, occurring over 30 miles...
One of the better things about the existing building is the covered portico on the side facing Quincy Market. Don't see that here and looks like they flipped it to the Greenway side? Wish they'd offer both. That space back there is pretty pleasant and protected-feeling as is.
Who wants to take bets on how long the new Amory st station will sit unfinished? The grand opening was a month ago and they never put the end trim pieces onto the canopies, and only one segment onto the south edge. Just some fun plywood and pt wood blocking sitting there... Have been waiting...
