South Boston Infill and Small Developments

^^ Holy crap, is that depressing. A beautiful, historic building - that once actually contributed to the neighborhood - turned into smoothed-over rubble. It's like a pocket-park sized version of Dresden 1946.

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

Curious to hear if people who are knowledgeable about aviation / the airline industry think this is meaningful? It sounds impressive to me, but I don't know enough about the space to make an informed judgment.

Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

Meh. I would take a highly urban, pedestrianized streetscape with top-quality infill, exciting street retail and as-close-to-100% preservation of pre-WWII historic architecture as possible over an 800-foot building that's tall for the sake of being tall any day.

    Worcester Infill and Developments

^^ Interesting pair of stories. What are the other vacant/languishing historic buildings in Worcester, btw? Believe there's an old courthouse, right? I feel like there are a few others as well... Hopefully they all manage to avoid the unfortunate end of Notre Dame...

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

^^ Oh wow. Seems nobody has mentioned it on the forum thus far (unless I missed), but that article also mentions Delta is rolling out new seasonal direct routes from Logan to Lisbon and Edinburgh. Are those the first connections to those cities?

    Rose Kennedy Greenway

I'd take the old buildings destroyed for the Central Artery over the Greenway in a heartbeat, personally.

One Kenmore Square | 560 Commonwealth Avenue | Kenmore Square

Re: Crossroads at Kenmore | 560 Commonwealth Ave | Kenmore Square A lot will depend on the execution, and I assume that if they're going with an expensive architect they'll go for expensive materials. That said, this is a high-risk building. It may be the first time I'll end up wishing the CBT...

State Street HQ | One Congress | Bulfinch Crossing | West End

Re: One Congress | West End Great photo, KZ! I'd totally forgotten about State Street's name on that building. The other thing that struck me when seeing your picture was: "So, this looks like a relatively contemporary picture ... but ... where are all the raised arms with smartphones foisted...

Quaker Lane + Congress Square | Downtown

Aren't there already a dozen Bar/Cafe/Restaurant Mercatos? There's something that strikes me as so ... uninspired about that name. It smacks of a generic, trendy, trying-too-hard-to-be-cool-while-skimping-on-service-and-food-quality corporate-owned Spanish fusion restaurant. But let's see.

    The New Retail Thread

I was in Faneuil Hall / Quincy Market for the first time in years a few days after Christmas. My God, what a failure Ashkenazy's management of F.H. has been. I remember reading about all the life they'd bring to the complex when they got the lease a few years ago ... and I assumed at least some...

Flickr Finds & Social Media Pics

Ummm, racist much? This is pretty ridiculously offensive. Mods - is it OK to spew this sort of racism on the forum?

    Fenway Infill and Small Developments

That's really too bad. 104 and 108 Hemenway are classic Fenway architecture. Very unfortunate for the tenants who suffered innocently.

    Worcester Infill and Developments

The Visigoths of Worcester must be happy to have decimated one of their city's major landmarks for the last century. And for poaching a minor league ballteam from another New England city. And for the taxpayer-funded, money-losing albatross of a stadium that will require. When do they build...

Quaker Lane + Congress Square | Downtown

Why in the name of puck did they commit this senseless act of barbarism? Is the subcontractor working on the windows a native of Heathen Worcester, where Urban Redevelopment lives on at its worst?

    Worcester Infill and Developments

Lipstick on a pig. "Yes, our economy is in tatters, we blow up our grandest cathedrals in the center of our city for parking lots, and our citizens are too degenerate to care ... BUT A MINOR LEAGUE TEAM!!" I'm sure this will come with all sorts of tax breaks. Taxpayer funding that could've...

Julie Hall | Brookline Ave | Emanuel College | Fenway

So this looks not only like one of Dallas' least-fortunate buildings, but also like one of Chicago's (Hyatt Regency)? ... Impressive!

Emerson College - Little Building Addition + Renovation | 80 Boylston St | Downtown

Are they returning the original (terracotta?) facade elements on top of the updated steel frame? Or are these newly manufactured replicas?
