We did it, we saved the abandoned industrial lot for another generation.

    General Portland Discussion

The owner of the lot next to it, and the next lot, is listed as "Somerset Development LLC" Not sure how long that's been the case.

    Portland Square Redevelopment | Portland

Yeah, its the whole city, as it should be. Honestly most of the changes are very minor.

No one really goes to the bank anymore. Might as well go have a drink and pretend you're at the bank instead! Sounds like a cool project overall, looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

    Portland Passenger Rail

I agree with most here. This station is incredibly lame, and location 3 is the worst of all the options. Portland always seems so bad at planning ahead. Everything always has to be the bare minimum, cheapest and easiest possible solution.

Yep, looks like things are starting up! Should be an interesting couple of years.

    Maine state flag preference?

I'm firmly in the pine tree camp. The old state-seal-on-a-blue-background version manages to be both ugly and boring/generic at the same time.

The dedicated bike/pedestrian bridge is huge! As well as improving and widening the path on the sides of the bridge. I walk the back cove loop often and that highway-bridge section is pretty unpleasant. This would really help a lot.

One time years ago when I lived in Boston, through sheer luck I got to watch a Red Sox game from the Monster. One of my roommates at the time ended up with tickets because his mom had them for some kind of work-related thing that fell through at the last minute. She gave the tickets to him, and...

Yeah and the place really looks like a dump when viewed from 295. I get that it's the "back" of the facility but it really gives off a bad impression.. even just cleaning up some of the random junk would help.

I saw this original post the other day. In addition to the shadows, they were throwing out all the standard nimby issues - out of scale with the neighborhood, where will they park, traffic armageddon etc... Lots of bold red lettering. The overall tone made me skeptical that the shadows would...

Thats too bad, I really liked the design of this one... Hopefully something good will take it's place.

Yeah, I agree. If they have to change the location to Spring street, I think it would be better scrap it all and start over. Design a new building that is intended to be in that location rather than just picking up the current design, rotating it 90 degrees and plopping it back down somewhere else.
