Stadium & Riverwalk | Tidewater Landing | Pawtucket

Those are sharp renderings and it would look great if built as rendered (I love the black). It's still hard not to be skeptical of the whole thing though. I just question their ability to make the numbers work. The timing kind of sucks because PC built/opened Anderson Stadium not all that long...

City Hall Plaza Revamp | Government Center

Right. For me, the bar for "improvement" here is pretty low. If it's easier to walk from Cambridge St @ Sudbury St. over to Faneuil Hall or from Hanover St. up to Tremont St., I'll be happy. Regardless of the language in the press releases, it'll never be a great place to gather without...

Oxford Office Bldg. | 125 Lincoln St | Leather District

I think it ultimately comes down to a combination of economics and headaches. Economics: Small, constrained lot presents engineering challenges Abutting the O'Neill Tunnel presents additional engineering/logistic challenges General construction material costs/inflation Cost increases...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve taken the Red Line between South Station and North Quincy a few times. This isn’t an area I’ve ridden the T regularly for years, so I was surprised at just how slow the trains crawled heading into/out of N. Quincy and over the Neponset River Bridge. It was...

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

Yes, they're both twin engine aircraft. As an avgeek, the LH A340-600 has always been one of my favorite planes to fly. I like the 2-4-2 layout in economy (usually traveling as a couple) and the lavatory located "downstairs" is a pretty neat quirk.

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

Interesting that their strategy is to try routes with a lot of existing capacity rather that try newer light/lean destinations utilizing their fuel efficient narrow bodies. I guess it's not much different from their efforts to compete at big hubs like ATL, DTW, EWR, CLT, etc. Also, does anyone...

East Boston Infill and Small Developments

Good find! That would look nice. I'm surprised I can't find this on the BPDA website. The existing building did not look structurally compromised, so it's hard not to think that this part of the project.

East Boston Infill and Small Developments

2-10 Maverick Sq: And some demo at 40-42 Kelly Sq/219 Border St. this is interesting because I can’t find anything on it beyond a 2016 Buildup entry. The restaurant here went out over the summer. Demo seems to have happened quickly.

    Piers Park 3 Redevelopment

I'll snag some pictures (not a whole lot to see yet), but they've got construction fence taking up most of the "lawn" on the northern end of Piers Park. I haven't seen much actual work going on, but they're definitely getting prepped.

    Biking in Boston

Those look great. Does anyone know if they relocated the EV chargers to another area? I'm happy for the new bike lanes, but I don't love the idea of the city scaling back EV charging capacity. *edit* Feels like this section of Cambridge St. could benefit from a treatment similar to what...

    Crazy Transit Pitches

Thanks @F-Line to Dudley and @Riverside. Exactly the type of input I was hoping for. So in a nutshell, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

    Crazy Transit Pitches

Would converting the Fairmount Line to rapid transit or light rail and extending it into the Seaport via the existing Silver Line tunnel be A) Possible, B) Useful and C) Reasonably cost effective compared to alternatives? I remember reading (I think from F-Line) that extending the Green Line...

MBTA "Transformation" (Green Line, Red Line, & Orange Line Transformation Projects)

I agree 100%. I'm floored by the lack of transparency on their end. I think people (most, anyway) are reasonable enough to understand and even expect that correcting decades of neglect will take time and come with some unforeseen complications. There's no reason for the T to have such a hard...

MBTA "Transformation" (Green Line, Red Line, & Orange Line Transformation Projects)

I really don't like to fall on the "defending the MBTA" side of things, but I believe it's entirely possible that they truly just don't know. Even the best estimates are still only estimates. And when you're dealing with infrastructure that has had maintenance deferred for decades in some cases...

    Cambridge Crossing (NorthPoint) | East Cambridge/Charlestown | Cambridge/Boston

I like the area a lot and have found myself over there several times in the past year (Lamplighter was the catalyst, but is not the only destination anymore). I think the REI hate is a little unfair. It's contextual with most of the other buildings at that intersection which I think were...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Regular Union Square riders - have the delays/slowdowns approaching the station been resolved? Is there still an at-grade stop as you approach the station?

    Theme parks

Great thread idea. I've always loved how the better parks create a sense of space and it's very much in line with urban planning. The Disney Parks are great, and I think Universal does a great job too. We don't have kids and don't plan on it, so we don't get to the Florida parks as much, but...

Water Transportation in and around Boston

We had some friends (attempt to) take it yesterday. They're collecting fares now. You can buy a one-way or round trip in the mTicket app (no cash or paper tickets accepted). You can also use the monthly linkpass, but only the paper ticket version that's good for Commuter Rail Zone 1a too. This...

    The New Retail Thread

This is good news for beer fans: Providence’s Long Live Beerworks is opening a Boston location. They announced it yesterday. They didn’t give an address, but it looks like 152 Hampden St. - the former Backlash taproom and current Flying Embers location (they must be closing/relocating). Long...
