    Unbuilt roads around metro Boston

Evidently the proponent of the Boston Bypass passed away in 2018. Some Globe articles from 1989 (!) At least some people took him seriously: Power generation thru "humps on the road" and "summer villas" suspended from the bridges! A modern viewpoint?

    Unbuilt roads around metro Boston

IIRC the proponent of the B.B. was a potter who made and sold novelty Boston Baked Bean pots from a shop in the North End. :) I thought he was some crazed abutter wanting to move construction noise to anywhere but near him, but those B.B. flyers started turning up again years after the Big Dig...

Quaker Lane + Congress Square | Downtown

All of the top floors are now open. The topmost floor is a cafeteria: Plenty of outdoor seating (too cold I suppose for it to be open now) This corner feels sort of like the prow of a ship: An amphitheater for all hands meetings is on the two floors beneath the top: It's...

Oxford Office Bldg. | 125 Lincoln St | Leather District

Here is an interesting picture of the garage when brand new: In this picture the photographer seems to be standing on the 125 Lincoln site -- you can see whatever was next door to the new garage being torn down: Here is the garage under construction: There are other images of the freight...

The United States hotel was once on that site -- it was torn down in the 30's; not sure what replaced it: The street grid is very different today; whatever replaced the hotel must have been urban renewaled:

    Rose Kennedy Greenway

My Cunning Plan here make such a structure atop the ramp parcel by the Dock Square garage and install the Holocaust memorial on it, with a museum or such facing the streets. With the monument relocated, the square parcel bounded by Congress and Union streets could be repurposed for a granite...

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

This, I imagine? From Inventing the Charles River, pg. 340. The book talks about this idea (all buildings) being mentioned and discussed in the Globe amongst other possibilities. They've even gotten rid of that crummy Cross st. parking lot in the image.

    The New Retail Thread

No. someone assembled the apartment building and the houses you see into one parcel and razed them all for a parking lot in the late 50s. You can see that the apartment building is very narrow, including only five units, and so maybe there was less money to be had at the time in rental income...

    The New Retail Thread

FWIW this is what used to be on the site before it became a parking lot in the 50s:
