Yet their highest grossing store per square foot is the one on Boylston St in Back Bay, which has ZERO on-site parking.

    Biking in Boston

Most dangerous thing about biking in winter in Boston? When the roads have been poorly plowed, the temperature has dropped, and the remaining uneven bits of snow on the road have frozen, creating a minefield of ice mounds. Also, occasionally, black ice. The only days I don't bike in winter are...

The Boulevard (née The Times/Littlest Bar) | 110 Broad St | Downtown

The bottom two floors are a total fail. I generally like the rest of the building though, although it does kind of give a big FU to the Littlest Bar.

OMG yes. The Canada Goose craze is so ridiculous. People actually line up to get into the store at the Pru on weekends, to pay $800+ for a winter coat. It's nuts.

    General Infrastructure

I think the biggest mistake MassDOT made here was introducing a traffic signal where there was none before. The free-for-all mixing zone where cars from all directions just had to negotiate their way into the tunnel was actually quite efficient. I'm sure it looked like a nightmare from an...

    Bones of Boston

Interesting that you mention Meeting House Hill. I'm currently reading a book about the development of Dorchester (and Roxbury) in the late 1800s, and this was mentioned as a thriving neighborhood at that time. I looked into it on Google Earth and had the same thoughts as you. What a really nice...

City Hall Plaza Revamp | Government Center

Re: Official City Hall Plaza Proposals We had a really bad cold spell last year. When the weather was decent, it seems like it was well attended. When it was bone chillingly cold, not so much.

    Logan Airport Capital Projects

Is there any talk of creating dedicated bus lanes for accessing the airport terminals at all?

Those ground floors demonstrate what minimum parking requirements looks like. Also, I'd do a significant road diet to reduce the amount of pavement, widen the sidewalks, and add street trees along both sides.

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

Re: North-South Rail Link If the North-South rail link happened, is there any chance that the Downeaster would be rolled into an extended Northeast Regional?

    Biking in Boston

To the best of my knowledge, Mayor Walsh trashed the Boston Bike Network Plan.

Fort Point Infill and Small Developments

Totally agree with FK4. A bike route is generally only as good as its weakest link. And right now, the protected lanes and striped bike lanes don't really connect to each other in key places. Transitioning from protected lane to sharrow as is often the case really suppresses the potential bike...

Jamaica Plain Infill and Small Developments

I must say, most of that infill in the photos above looks quite nice! No crazy mis-mash of materials. No asymmetric windows. Not too much VEing. No ugly driveways or parking structures.

I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

One thing I've noticed from the report: Despite Secretary Pollack's publicly stated concern last month about the surface options being unwise choices due to flooding risk, the independent report shows that none of the alternatives would result in I-90 being inundated by a 50 year flood.

BU Data Sciences Center | 665 Commonwealth Avenue | BU Central

Re: BU Data Sciences Center | 665 Commonwealth Avenue | Kenmore Square This building just screams "Look at me! I'm different!" for no good reason. I know it's possible to make something that is both modern and that blends in with its neighbors. This is not it.

    BU Development Thread

This is my favorite quote from the first article, from the BU President: "We wanted a building that in 2100 would stand up and mark the dynamic change in the University and talk about the century we’re in." Because nothing says 21st century more than a stack of books! LOL.

Intelligentsia Coffee opened their first Boston proper location today, in the lobby of 225 Franklin St. I visited this morning and it looks great (and the coffee was excellent as expected!) https://boston.eater.com/2018/8/16/17698470/intelligentsia-downtown-boston-gallery

150 W Broadway looks really good! On a lot of those photos, the garage doors make me very sad. The ground floors are mainly parking in those buildings :-(

    Comm Ave Bridge Replacement.

Oh I totally agree. The stop sign for the trains was the lazy solution. The City of Boston would have (gasp) had to make changes to the road to make it safer for the trains, but clearly had no interest, so the T threw up some stop signs and called it a day.
