Multi-Family Zoning Requirements for MBTA Communities

The meeting was on a Monday. It doesn’t say what time, but already it’s going to be much harder for working people and parents to attend on a weekday versus retirees.

Idea for fixing the housing shortage

I think this is the big flaw in the argument: that if people/companies formerly tied to Boston were given the opportunity, they’d choose to reside instead in Brockton and Fall River. Wishful thinking to the extreme!

Everett Docklands Innovation District | 52 Beacham Street | Everett

Could be cool if there was some kind of “Everett museum of modern industry” where there could be a single oil tank and some kind of reduced or dumbed-down model of the plant for education/preservation purposes. Kind of like a more contemporary version of the Lowell mill museum. They could have...

Mayor Wu Appoints Second Chief of Planning

I was more concerned about fuel usage. Surely a 70min flight burns more than a 70min drive or subway ride.

So long as they preserve frogface! Though I guess I’d be okay if they tore down the lindemann and kept that bit as a standalone sculpture.

They drove up COL in formerly middle class towns like Needham and Natick by forcing the rich people to look elsewhere.

Ah, yes, the “how do we legally threaten these towns with dissolution if they don’t agree to build more houses” unit.

Lyrik Back Bay | 1001 Boylston Street (Parcel 12) | Back Bay

Yup, definitely don’t go there very often. In response, I’d nominate the intersection of Main Street and Medford Street by Tufts pool as being really bad. The whole bike ride from Magoun to my house is sketchy (I get on the community path at Lowell street) but that intersection is probably the...

Lyrik Back Bay | 1001 Boylston Street (Parcel 12) | Back Bay

Admittedly I don’t take it very much. I’m either traveling perpendicular to or parallel to Highland. Poking around on Google, though, it doesn’t look worse than Main Street in Medford south of Medford Square.

Somerville’s roads are pretty good, imo. When I bike to the community path from my house in Medford, I can tell where the town line is by the quality of the pavement.

They’re in Korea, Japan, etc. too. But yeah, that was what I was thinking of. Not sure if it can stop icicles, but I imagine it at least keeps the hardened/frozen snow from sliding off in chunks on top of people.

Isn’t there a better way of doing that that doesn’t impact the roof’s ability to keep off sun/rain? Make them heated? Or just have them curve upward at the ends?

Are concave roofs like that just as good at keeping off the sun/rain as traditional convex ones? Ya know. “v” versus “^” .

    General Boston Discussion

So, needy. Here are the 3 east coast routes now. I used the version of the route for Boston that goes through downtown since the two others do that too. Google says you can save time by going 128 (which is what it said last time too), but I’m not sure if I really trust it. I’ll try to remember...
