Fenway Corners (Red Sox) | 1 Jersey Street | Fenway

I don’t think any single plot of land anywhere is big enough to solve the housing crisis.

I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

Never a good sign when half the street names are “Blah Blah Drive” or “Blah Blah Connector”.

Lyrik Back Bay | 1001 Boylston Street (Parcel 12) | Back Bay

The residents of Brookline in the 1800s decided that tribalism and provincialism would rule the metro area for the foreseeable future. You can’t blame Bostonians for asking people to respect the boundaries they were given. It can’t be “won’t anyone think of the suburbs!?” only when it’s an...

What are you listening to now?

Folks around my age might recognize this local band from hits like “Love Drunk” and “The Great Escape”, but here is some cool new music from the group:

Idea for fixing the housing shortage

Anyone want to summarize? The globe won’t let me pay for the individual article, and I’m not creating a subscription to read this one story.

Everett Docklands Innovation District | 52 Beacham Street | Everett

Apparently, Encore must be on the verge of bankruptcy due to no one wanting to commute through/to Everett.

    General Boston Discussion

While I’m sure that Woburn has never been a “tranquil” and “quaint” place within my lifetime, I’m not convinced it was those things in my parents’ lifetimes either. This is the city where the drinking water was so incredibly polluted by industrial waste that it was giving kids cancer. Not...

Potential Exelon Mystic Station Redevelopment | Everett

I graduated high school in 2014 and I stayed in the city for college. I only moved out in 2019. So, I wouldn’t say I’m totally ignorant to Boston’s demographics. When Fenway throws “Dominican night”, do you really think the only Dominican people there are ones who drove down from Lawrence? Kids...

Potential Exelon Mystic Station Redevelopment | Everett

A few of your points are debatable, but this one’s just wrong. As someone who grew up in the city of Boston, I can attest that city residents go to sports games at a similar frequency compared to people in the suburbs.

Potential Exelon Mystic Station Redevelopment | Everett

Frustrating that the article doesn’t have statements from anyone in the House who worked to remove the wording. Who would do that, what’s the benefit, and how do they think the land will eventually be used? Very confusing motivations. Besides the need for traffic improvements on the Boston...

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

That garage on the left really needs to be [best case] redeveloped or [bare minimum] covered with some screens or public art or something.

    Whats left to build on?

The windows are all boarded up, and the plywood doesn’t exactly look new. If there are people living/working in there, I’d be shocked.

    Whats left to build on?

Anyone know or want to speculate on what the future holds for this taller, dilapidated building in Allston?

City Hall Plaza Revamp | Government Center

    That’s a hot hot take 🥵

    11-21 Bromfield Street | DTX | Downtown

But it’s only bad because the owner has intentionally let it rot / sit abandoned to pressure the city into whatever redevelopment, no? Am I being a conspiracy theorist right now?

Mildred Hailey (Bromley Heath) BHA Redevelopment | Jackson Square | Jamaica Plain

Why would this development impact Lamartine, which is on the opposite side of Centre from Mildred Hailey?

New England Revolution Stadium | 173 Alford Street | Boston-Everett

If we’re judging by total wealth, then Boston has more than Nantucket or Manchester-by-the-sea. Clearly that doesn’t reflect the actual situation in most of the city. The point is that there’s more poverty in Boston than in Everett, both by percentage and by raw number if we really want to go...

New England Revolution Stadium | 173 Alford Street | Boston-Everett

I thought we’ve established at this point that the street address of the new stadium will be a Boston address, not an Everett one. And Boston has a higher poverty rate than Everett. I agree that a city is being pushed around by a wealthier neighbor, but I think you have the roles reversed.

New England Revolution Stadium | 173 Alford Street | Boston-Everett

I mean, compare it against pay-to-play entertainment in the area like Kings Bowling or Puttshack mini golf. There, you’re guaranteed to pay at least $20-$30 on top of your food/drink orders. I was at Encore this past Friday to celebrate a friend’s birthday. I took out $200 at the start and...

New England Revolution Stadium | 173 Alford Street | Boston-Everett

I think the comparison’s been made in this thread before, but the aesthetic isn’t too far from London’s Battersea Power Station which was recently redeveloped. Maybe we’re moving into a “post-industrial chic” era. Could be a big deal for the brand of places like Lowell, Worcester, etc.
