Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

I think the disappointment is in the contrast with what was promised. The connector is a beautiful lobby with some nice public amenities. It is definitely not, a Great Hall.

    Squares + Streets

I would suggest the Design a Better Boston forum, and definitely agree that we need a thread on the topic.

Hyde Park Infill and Small Developments

Great spot for this. Easy walk to the Fairmont line for residents with mobility concerns, lots of interesting neighborhood things going on. I think the stretch between Cleary Square and Fairmont Square is about to take off as a great urban location.

MBTA Fare System (Charlie, AFC 2.0, Zone, Discounts)

I agree that 16 fare engagement officers seems too low, but that may just be the initial class of hires, not a limit on total number. As far as how it works, proof of payment is pretty well established around the world and has shown to be quite effective. Most people will pay because we are...

    Fantasy T maps

I realize there is the asterisk for Needham Line conversion, but it's a bit frustrating to see that this approach essentially disregards trip efficiency.

MBTA Fare System (Charlie, AFC 2.0, Zone, Discounts)

Yes, I thought about that particular wording, too. It might be wishful thinking, but I'm going to take that to be a confirmation that all door boarding is a planned feature.

    Biking in Boston

This is largely my experience, too. To a certain extent, this conversation reminds me of the "I saw a bike run a red light!" discourse that pops up so often on social media. I realize the point being made is different, and explicitly not being done in an anti-bike fashion here in this thread...

Suffolk Downs Redevelopment | East Boston/Revere

Well that's just complete nonsense. It's a 6 minute walk from the T to the area marked as the entrance in that facility map.

    Biking in Boston

As it is, many drivers are convinced that even painted bike lanes are expensive and that the cost is entirely born by drivers. People who think that would definitely react badly to the expense of something like a bike viaduct network.

    Biking in Boston

$12 for a full day rental is a pretty great price for e-bike share. Blue Bikes charges non-member $15 an hour for an e-bike. Just from perusing the Metro Mobility website, though, it appears that the model is entirely based on privately established fleets/docking stations. Yes, much of the time...

    Roslindale Infill and Small Developments

Conceptually I like it, but the tree people in East Roslindale are going to fight this without a doubt. 375 Cummins is packed with trees, and also across the street from a cemetery. That's probably a second plank on the NIMBY platform -- disrupts the bucolic nature of the Rozzie funeral district.

Museum Of Science Renovations | 1 Science Park | West End

Whiglander wrote that 17 years ago, so it's likely that both his statement and your recollection are accurate. According to Wikipedia, the current facility opened in 1951.

    BU Development Thread

I love the concept for a multi-ecology central green. It would really tie together the central part of campus in a unifying way that has always been missing at BU.

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

The part about Quebec and the PNW might be true? Although that paradigm of electrification, California, is giving Quebec a run for the money on hydrogen.

10 World Trade | BGI Office Tower (Massport Parcel A2) | Seaport

Not specifically commenting on the Seaport, but in my opinion, the best urban spaces I've had the opportunity to enjoy have all been locations with height limits and densely packed mid-rise architecture. The Seaport fits in with this concept quite well.

    Logan Airport Capital Projects

That's already true for all the garages at Logan, though to be honest, I kind of don't mind that. I embrace cold weather and it's a nice reminder that Boston is a cold weather place when you come out to find your car buried in snow after a trip to some warmer location.

    Fantasy T maps

Looks great. A quick one that I found is that you have Needham Heights as the label for both the actual station and also for Needham Junction. If I notice anything else, I'll add to this post.

Other People's Rail: Amtrak, commuter rail, rapid transit news & views outside New England

Yeah, the continued chaos around track assignments/announcements at the Penn Station complex is frustrating to say the least. Other stations don't seem to have this kind of chronic issue. And while I realize NYP is far busier than any other station in North America, figure it out, it can't be an...
