    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

^ I agree with this. Standard bike lanes along parking can cause a lot of anxiety for riders (or is that just me?). I would much rather have the wide bus lane in this scenario. Sure buses can be scary, but at least you can see/hear them coming. The trade off is, could it have been a better bike...

MBTA Fare System (Charlie, AFC 2.0, Zone, Discounts)

I saw on Twitter that Laurel Paget-Seekins has left the MBTA. She was more or less "in charge" of AFC 2.0 as far as I can tell (she always presented the updates at the FMCB meetings). I wonder what that means for the project.

Skanska Office Tower | 380 Stuart Street | Back Bay

Where are those photos of the old style microphones from a couple pages back? This was so ugly/out of place to me. Fingers crossed for something a bit more traditional.

Rutherford Avenue to go on a diet!

Ah, I see. This was wayy older than I had thought. However, it seems they never would have been able to finish it back then because it didn't even fit!

    Cambridge Infill and Small Developments

I found it very interesting that they were basically obsessed with painting the clapboards. They weren't prepainted. Every day or so they would finish a section or a couple feet and someone would rush in to paint it.

Rutherford Avenue to go on a diet!

Where did the "neighborhood opposition" rumor come from? The roadway ended up being too narrow for the cross section that was to be installed (drafting error I think?), so they went back and made it a bike lane in one direction and a shared lane in the other. Care was taken to figure out what...

News from Cambridge in that tomorrow they plan to add a separated bike lane on Webster Ave from the Somerville Line to Cambridge St. This was something people had been asking for for a while.

Assembly Square Infill and Small Developments | Somerville

It's a super easy bike ride over on a BlueBike. I live near Union Sq and probably go to Assembly 2-3 times per month. The connection at Broadway near the Mt Vernon is pretty straight forward.

Nubian Ascends (Blair Lot) | 2164 Washington | Roxbury

Typically they only need to live in the City for 10 years of their employment though. I would bet that a lot of the HQ employees have been with the City for a long time and are able to move out.

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

I live on one of the side streets in this segment. The backups are mostly at the signals, so the queue jumps might be just enough to speed up the buses. There is a "need" for a left turn lane onto Dane St during rush hour and I wonder how they plan to address that? Signal timing? Split phases...

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

I REALLY want them to consider that for the Belmont St project in Cambridge: https://www.cambridgema.gov/Departments/publicworks/cityprojects/2019/belmontstreetreconstructionproject If anyone with some knowledge in that arena wants to send them some feedback... Other than "gee, but who will...

    Biking in Boston

I forget the story, but a number of years ago when they put in the existing bike lanes, they installed all the bike and arrow symbols, but then came back and ground them all out... The bike lanes remained, but I think they were supposed to be officially "shoulders".

EXP | 795 Columbus Avenue | Northeastern University

When I went to Northeastern, around 10 years ago, it was during the change from "NEU" to "NU" (on shirts, hats, email servers, neu.edu changing to northeastern.edu, etc). I remember NEU being easier to say, but who on Earth way back was like yeah NEU because NorthEastern University?!? At the...

MBTA Fare System (Charlie, AFC 2.0, Zone, Discounts)

I wonder if just having free transit during implementation would end up being faster and cheaper than all the man-hours and infrastructure to make it a phased transition.
