Lovejoy Wharf | 131 Beverly Street | West End

I remember them doing the same thing in Brazil...a few times I visited "pre-lançamento" places with my wife. They essentially build sales offices on site with some minor construction prep being done on the property. Once they hit a certain threshold, the project starts up.

The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Good point. I didn't take that into consideration. It is very, very strange that they themselves are promoting this as the "Gateway" but are totally fine using this design for it.

The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

I'm no architect, but doesn't it say something bad about the effort that went into this building that when complaints were made about the design and the response was to move around pieces of the façade like it were a Mr. Potato Head? With Winthrop Square, it looks like there was some real...

Amazon Office Tower I | 111 Harbor Way (Seaport Square Parcel L4) | Seaport

Re: Block L4 | Seaport Square I don't post all that often relative to some other people, but I do check the site several times a week, and over the past year or so the tone of the site has become a lot more combative and cunty. Not sure why, but it's definitely noticeable.

    The New Retail Thread

Totally agree. Brazil has no public drinking laws either, so when I was living in São Paulo, oftentimes on Friday I would grab a beer for the walk home from the office. It was great being able to have a nice relaxing stroll home sipping a beer after a long week. I'm sure people would freak...

    The New Retail Thread

Bos77 did a good job of mentioning areas where I think Massachusetts could definitely relax on. I think it would also be wise to relax on some of the permit/licensing for things like food trucks, since it seems quite obvious that placing such a financial burden on the proprietors is hurting...

    The New Retail Thread

Oh for sure. The last time I was home I went to Nightshift and there was a food truck there, and I remember seeing one at the Trillium Beer Garden last summer too. I think it's definitely growing in Boston, but in a place like Denver it's already a mature market so it's EVERYWHERE here. I...

    The New Retail Thread

Boston is generally considered buttoned-up, traditional, etc., and I think Portland, OR is considered the complete opposite...hippies, hipsters, and the intent of being whatever the opposite of traditional is. I was trying to say Boston (and Mass too, since a lot of the laws/permits/regulations...

    The New Retail Thread

Food trucks oftentimes offer unconventional or ethnic foods from places people aren't familiar with...stuff banks aren't necessarily going to give out a loan for a business for. Beyond that, I think you're missing the point: people shouldn't have to get out a bank loan just to get permits to...

    The New Retail Thread

lol, when did Denver become a concrete wasteland? It's obviously not anywhere near the density of Boston, but concrete wasteland paints it as some hideous place, which is certainly isn't. I do agree that the density makes it easier to deploy food truck here vs Boston, but I think there are...

Screw the birds. They've had plenty of time to learn what glass is. Maybe they'll get with the program someday. https://youtu.be/9UZG3NFR6YM

    Amazon HQ2 RFP

When has income inequality ever not been an issue? I don't see why that's a reason to stop helping companies create high-level jobs in the area. I agree 100%, but the two aren't mutually exclusive. We can push job growth and housing growth at the same time. Here in Denver they're building...

    Amazon HQ2 RFP

Maybe there should be a policy in place that companies which create local jobs get a tax break of some sort. I wouldn't be against it. If it can help the economic health of the area, I think it'd be a great idea. I think it'd also be a great idea to give tax breaks to startup companies...

    Amazon HQ2 RFP

My guess would be jobs? It doesn't seem like any location gets a major corporate transplant these days without offering some of tax break.

    Amazon HQ2 RFP

Would it be a net loss? I'm really curious. Because obviously Boston as a whole would get some benefit from the income tax since it's located in Massachusetts, but also wouldn't local businesses thrive a bit more due to the additional workers who are spending money, plus workers would buy...

Whoops, I had googled "Boston City Income Tax Rate" and missed the fact that it had returned Mass Income Tax rate...my mistake!
