    Somerville Infill and Small Developments

At the end of the day, for better or worse, those of us who live in Somerville voted yes on 5 and by a pretty wide margin (though not as large of one as we saw on Q4). Now it's on us to stay involved and stay vigilant to make sure the Prop 2.5 override isn't abused.

    Somerville Infill and Small Developments

So, from what I can gather, the $256 million includes a larger than average contingency fund given the challenges of the site. From what I've heard, the rear of the site is steeper than the stairs/escalators at Porter, so it's nothing to scoff at. Additionally, I'm under the impression that the...

General Electric HQ (Necco Buildings Reno) | 5 Necco Street | Fort Point

Re: General Electric HQ | Necco St.| Fort Point For some reason, it reminds me of the Netherlands Pavilion from Expo 2000.

I guess this means that the new card will have a deposit. Thats how most fare cards with this enabled work, right?

Pretty sure United has, or at least had as Continental, codeshare with Amtrak at some point.

Coffee. I don't think Barrington does anything besides a mocha or dirty chai where you don't control how much sugar. On the Starbucks side of things, their coffee isn't horrible and its basically on par with Cafe Nero IMHO. Also, for something different, Trader Joe's is opening in Assembly...

    The New Retail Thread

Meh. I'm glad that there's another lunch option in the area, but in terms of coffee, I much prefer Barrington or Starbucks. The pastries arent bad, but with Flour right around the corner, it isn't as if the area was hurting for baked goods.

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Given Massachusetts, I'm amazed that they didn't vote to delay a vote. I'll put this down in the "Win...?" column.

A part of me wonders what she must have done in a past life to be put in this situation.

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Maybe I haven't lived here long enough, but its mind boggling that the state can't figure out to build an up to date, modern transit extension. I'm a supporter of the GLX, but at the end of the day, paying $2.3 billion for a 5 mile extension along existing ROW to 1950's standards is appalling...

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

Anybody know if the bus routes running on Webster and Prospect St near Union Square are going to be rerouted once those streets go two-way? Tried pinging the MBTA, but haven't heard back.

Union Square Somerville Infill and Small Developments

From the timeline that was posted last March, construction on D2, the plot closest to where the planned station would go, was set to start early 2016. But given the GLX current state, who knows what it could be. For what its worth, US2 has kinda slacked in terms of communication as of late. I...

I'd imagine theres some skepticism that the McGrath project will actually deliver on those promises. As far as I'm concerned, Somerville is right to be skeptical about infrastructure projects by now.

    Somerville Infill and Small Developments

Re: Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq A new building is going to happen and everybody knows that. From other articles about the situation: "To make matters worse, the New England Association of Schools and Colleges has put Somerville on notice saying they needs to see plans in the...

Yeah, it isn't the old storage track as its on the south side of all the drainage work they were doing in the area. I'll try to snap a picture on my way home tonight.

Perhaps I hadn't noticed them before, but a third set of tracks seems to have appeared on the Fitchburg Line in the approach to Union Square.

How was the turnout for this meeting? Didn't seem to be nearly as much Twitter outrage/posts as there were for the last one.

Your ignoring the ability of rapid transit to transform areas into valuable commercial real estate. Then again, given the power of the NIMBY in the Boston area... :sigh:

I'm assuming that the energy store won't be batteries... because ain't nobody got time to wait for the plane to recharge.

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Wasn't one of the benefits of the GLX supposed to be 'balancing' the system as a whole and reducing the number of trains that had to short turn at Park Street, Government Center or North Station?
