Shame, that penthouse isn't exactly a small detail. This is the sort of VE which I think is troublesome from an entitlement standpoint, this is meaningfully different than what was presented. Otherwise, its appears to be a great building.

^^I think its interesting they are stabilizing but not using the historic brewery buildings. It sounds like an expensive punt and 20 years from now they will just VE the soccer team or just buy them a bus.

Its my understanding that the 8-12 floor range on most sites just doesn't pencil as its full high-rise construction with concrete or steel but generally without the economies of scale or height to get premium view rents.

^^It would have been great to keep that structure in the mix somehow. I hope they have an option on the Good Shepherd Church property, that building deff doesn't need to stay.

I like both elevations, and they are both worlds better than the standard glass curtain wall, especially brick elevation. But WHY do we need both, that joint is just so weird...

Very tangential, but the landscaper cake for me is this building and noise barrier combo outside or Utrecht in the Netherlands. Apparently they like this approach so much there is another, smaller, one just up the road.

I like it . I see it less as an uneven stack of books and more of a modern take on 'wedding cake' steps backs. I guess I am implying a different standard for the term daring here. I don't even mean a daring architectural design necessarily but the daring required of a developer to really transform a site, proposal a new urban form, or change an existing condition that might at all be contentious...

I have long thought the the trauma from urban renewal likely means it was the last interesting and original thing many places like Boston will do. I feel as though the ethos in places scarred by urban renewal is 'do no further harm' which means erring on the side of the existing condition even...

I have also thought about an intercollegiate museum which makes the most sense to be housed in a municipal/state museum. I'd also love to see the Westend Museum be part of a larger permanent collection.
