Bulfinch Crossing | Congress Street Garage | West End

Re: Congress St Garage is being sold. Hate to admit it, but I kinda like the old dog, in a sentimental sort of way. Its submissive hulking stature pays respect to the quaint little neighborhood it replaced. But as President Reagan once said "...tear down that wall!"

You can blame the sickly fountains, the weeds, and all the other problems on the Turnpike Authority. It's clear they can't manage or maintain parks properly. I think the maintenance issues will disappear once we have a dedicated organization, like the Conservancy, running the Greenway.

Re: Hynes renovation Let's not forget Tasca on Comm Ave in Brighton and my personal favorite, Taberna de Haro on Beacon St. in Brookline near the Boston line.

Re: City wants year-round marketplace for vendors This idea is tacky - they want to scatter the outdoor vendors all over the place? I like the idea of using that MBTA vent/office building though. Why not go ahead with the original plan of turning the Old Northern Ave. bridge into some sort...

Once the bill passes the legislature and the governor's desk, the Conservancy can actually get its hands on the maintenance piece. With any luck, the bill will become law by the end of the summer. Until then, it's up to the Turnpike Authority and their landscaping contractor, Valley Crest, to...

    How Likely?

How likely would it be for the T to fix the leaks at the various stations, especially South Station (Red Line) and Park Street (Green Line). Those leaks are nasty especially when you see what the floor and ceiling looks like after a while.

You are correct - in some locations the roof of the tunnel is within a foot of the surface above. They can build up to about 10 stories over I-93, as is. Apply a some reinforcement and you can go taller, albeit without underground parking and a deep basement.

I was out there when they were filming that segment. It must have been the windiest day in May, hence the lack of people and the lack of fountains (they shut off automatically when it gets too windy).

They did plant a few more trees that were not on the list and by a few more, I mean less than 10. They are relying solely on donated plants. The Garden Under Glass idea is gone, dead, and buried (in the dirt that is those parcels). MassHort's only involvement are these temporary landscape...

The former MassHort parcels you refer to are receiving temporary treatments which started last year. The end results will be pretty much what you see there now (stone dust pathways, no lights, etc) except more plantings and better looking grass. They just finished installing an irrigation...

MassHighway seems to have a lot of trouble screwing in new lights bulbs...I don't know why in other states it isn't a problem, but in Massachusetts it is.

It is a pretty congested area, so in this case I think the details are warranted. You have both high vehicular and pedestrian traffic in this area. The cops should volunteer their time for once. On another note, rumor has it that all fountains will be running by Friday until mid October.
