Because the Boston area doesn't have enough STEM education campuses? America spends a ton of money on education. More than almost any other country and more per capita than any other country approaching our size. If anything we should be spending less on education. Getting better results...

MIT East Campus - Kendall Square Gateway | Cambridge

I find that a bit interesting, if sometimes unsettling, really the effect of those angled panels is to play with the light and make the building look different shades of gold/white/dark depending on the angle and time of day and weather... Me thinks the inspiration was The dress. I see white/gold

I prefer the lighter shades at the top. I just wish it hadn't started so dark at the lowest floors. A more gradual gradient would have been better.

I like the sentiment expressed by Maddox in the article... and I know he has been a bit busy, but it would be good to see an actual plan for their properties across the street come together in the next 6 months to a year. Without a timeline for a plan it feels a bit like they are just...

I haven't been over there yet, but the pictures from yesterday seemed to show that the connection was complete and open.

Those are big speculative ifs that haven't come to fruition. I am talking about the here and now on a fairly low hanging solution to keeping a thousand or two thousand people from driving more than a few hundred feet off the interstate. There is surface parking in Sullivan Square now...

Come on... that is intentionally ignorant. There are tens of thousands of cars driving into the city going right past there. Taking a couple thousand cars off the road isn't crazy. Saying they should get on a train every hour in Woburn if they want to go to Boston is what's crazy.

Just focusing on the Wellington thing for a bit... I don't think you are correct. I can't find it at the moment, but by my recollection from previous MBTA reports was that Wellington reached 100% capacity on most weekdays. So, it does indeed "have capacity" which is being fully utilized and is...

    Long Island Bridge

Is the maintenance funded? That is my real question. The previous bridge was vehicle restricted due to corrosion long before it was taken down. I believe for about a decade of that time there was serious enough concern to put up a guard shack and restrict most vehicles from going over the...

    Long Island Bridge

Where is Boston going to get the money for this? Last bridge nearly fell down before it was taken down. "Sustainability" means you can economically maintain the infrastructure and we already have one data point which demonstrates that it is not economically sustainable to maintain a bridge to...

City Hall Plaza Revamp | Government Center

No it doesn't... electronic records mostly eliminate the need for one big centralized bureaucratic office. More than half of the current city hall staff could relocate to satellite offices in the neighborhoods where they are actually needed. And the mayor and city council could certainly meet...

New England Revolution Stadium | 173 Alford Street | Boston-Everett

Re: Site in Hub top choice for a soccer stadium Also, technically it should probably be in design a better Boston or something because every actual stadium proposal that was ever made public has been shot down. We might as well have an active thread about the Megaplex or the Olympics.

New England Revolution Stadium | 173 Alford Street | Boston-Everett

Re: Site in Hub top choice for a soccer stadium Well, the vision can't just be "a stadium" for it to make any sense in or immediately around Boston. Those days are hopefully long past where people are going to throw up a stadium in a cheap field surrounded by parking just off a highway... at...

I don't think I am missing that... the "suitability" thing is a big red flag in terms of the rule of law. Having a law setting up a commission accountable to no one that can make all sorts of arbitrary decisions over a cash cow artificial monopoly where billions of dollars are at stake. It was...

State Street HQ | One Congress | Bulfinch Crossing | West End

Well played, sir. Though I think he meant that you can see One Congress in the background of that live camera shot... a bit far and it hasn't risen above the surrounding buildings yet so that cam isn't going to be really helpful for another few months probably, but check back then.

A regulatory body imposing personal fines on an individual employee of a license holder with insufficient due process and then making up a training requirement out of thin air. I admit I have disliked the Gaming Commission concept from the beginning, but I think this confirms that it was a...
