What would you say to someone who said it is coercive, that people shouldn’t be blackmailed by the government and denied the tax dollars they worked for? Or that the state does not have jurisdiction over local zoning so this is a back door way of negating that prerogative?
Yes, think of the birds not the pretty lights. Cambridge may be full of crap but we do have bald eagles on the Charles. Something to consider when designing buildings.
The lolipops were a sculpture and this isn't the pregnant building. How wouldn't you know that? Are you even from here?
Also, it's rude to mention people's age. We are all young or old to someone. My teenage calls Millennials grampa.
You don't understand I am saying that either the neighbors want it or it shouldn't happen. We should stick to knowing what is good for where we live not other places
We can't criticize the criticism of a building as being a negative attitude and then negatively critique a bunch of buildings with no self awareness. Nobody is immune. I have been on here over 15 years and have verbalized my dislike for only a handful of buildings.
I used the term "gateway" but...
You can dismiss opinions as knee-jerk hate but this building, in a prominent place, fails as a gateway from the Back Bay and to Bay Village. It takes chances and gets away with it only because the city around is so forgiving
I think most buildings styles today will age as well as the mid-century modern ones. This building is a good example of that. The windows are not great but the totality of the building really looks cheap and plastic and many of its cousins around the city will be absolute crap in 40 years...
I lived in the area too for quite a while and that comment based solely on the recent history of how Bedford has been zoned not on how much I like the town. I think Bedford is cute with a number of pretty good restaurants.
