Are you confronting my ignorance or agreeing with me? I honestly can't tell

I have no idea what you think I am defending. My (unsympathetic) point was that social media are actually private entities not public accommodations and cannot be used to break the law or let foreign actors undermine our democracy, and if they ultimately cannot stop people then they cannot...

Social media platforms can't be the wild west and be consistent with the limitations of the First Amendment. I can't host a site where someone advocates for murder and expect the rules to be any different than in the real world. Social media sites have the flexibility to moderate questionable...

Take Back The Streets (...and alleys)

There is truth to that. Not everyone works 9 to 5 or just 40 hours a week. I personally have never had a job like that. I do okay money-wise but I can see how someone dealing with that schedule, having kids and not making enough could be so overwhelmed that expecting them to get more involved...

The trick is to get reduced or even free passes thru the local library system.

Perhaps, but I was not comparing subway systems, I was pointing out how unreasonable it is to expect young kids to take the T to the Children's Museum

175,000 people in Hyde Park, Dorchester, and Roxbury have no subway access in a city of less than 50 sq miles. Clearly you can't see that problem from Winter Hill.

"Let the Children's Museum experience include learning about public transit" Yes, the next generation needs to know how bad the T is particularly for people in the inner city where it barely exists

I don't get what people don't like about the scale of this building. Between the large building in a park and the historic neighborhood riddled with vacant lots the area felt like it was missing something. This building helps repair the streetwall and steps it up to the larger buildings. I like it

When the Globe was there they would open the back gate on to Wave Ave at certain times. I assume that gate is now only used for emergency purposes but this building will be a short walk to Savin Hill Station. Now that building on Adams Street is not great. The building density is okay, brings...

Perhaps these museums, save the MFA, would not have survived the lean years without parking and now without parking they would lose out to more accessible venues. The Children's Museum et al would then only be for those wealthy enough to live in Town and they would fail. Franklin Park zoo would...

It is not the same reason. The Children's Museum has been part of kids lives around here since it was in JP. It was part of the good bones that made the Seaport attractive to development. The Harbor Towers is a gated community driven by self interest the aquarium is along for the ride EDIT: clarity

I am delighted by the project overall but only a little torn on the aesthetics. Daylighting the Muddy River as it turns out was a great idea.

No Charley, I would sincerely rather see them torn down. It reminds me of how relentlessly the good people get screwed. Sorry to derail the thread.
