    Parcel L1 | 24 Drydock Ave | Seaport

Yes, I think it's good to redevelop this site, but that was a nice building.

South Boston Infill and Small Developments

And the cost of schools! It doesn't come up much in the press or here, but many communities (Boston is a real outlier on this) don't want more resi because that means more school age children, which costs more to tax payers. This is especially true in suburbs with really good school systems

    Allston-Brighton Infill and Small Developments

Looks like they filed to demo in 2022.

1400 Boylston Street | Star Market & Gulf | Fenway

The city is almost entirely reactive. We know there is no financing for residential so no one is proposing it. For the city, it would be better to wait until financing is available. But a developer isn't going to sit on that much area until then. Samules has developed the majority of this area...

I miss all of the stuff on top of the Pru

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Agreed, but unfortunately the operator is terrible so I am not optimistic about improvements of the concourse. I think the developer of the tower is keeping control of the area they are building, so hopefully that part will stay better?

Back Bay Garage Tower | Dartmouth and Stuart | Back Bay

It's a really tough location for peds because of the grades and the speed of auto traffic coming off of the pike. Redesigning/rebuilding the intersection of Dartmouth and Stuart would be a huge benefit.

Franklin Park - White Stadium Renovation

I agree with your assessment. I'm not surprised that Wu is just like every other mayor in the history of mayors--she was got to. I'm very opposed to public funds subsidizing professional sports teams. If this was a project to renovate the stadium for the BPS I'd be in support of it. But it is...

10 World Trade | BGI Office Tower (Massport Parcel A2) | Seaport

No, but in my, limited, experience, View glass has a distinctive yellow cast even when not "on". You can see it clearly in the Parcel 7 Phase 1 project--the Bower on Beacon Street.

Downtown/Financial district infill and small developments

This looks really good. These buildings have had a few proposals over the years, so I'm hopeful this actually happens. I am a little worried about the 1 bed that only looks out on a light shaft--wonder combining with the neighbor for a larger unit wouldn't be better. But, presumably, the...

Why is the subway so jerky?

I typically ride the orange line and there is one driver in particular who never seemed to learn how to use the brakes correctly. It's an incredibly jerky ride--I've started carrying anti nausea meds for the times I end up on their train. So I think there is some human error involved as well.

Super interesting. Thanks for sharing. Not sure about the whole anti-ADA diatribe at the end . . .

That glass is really yellow in these images. Could be the weather but I wonder if it is View Glass?

AFAIK, we have one googie building in Boston, which is now the JP Whole Foods. I'd love to know if there are others--but this is threadjacking

    The New Retail Thread

Being on the National Register of Historic Places is pretty much meaningless for redevelopment (the Shreve building was on the NR for example) It basically give a building access to tax credit programs not any protection of the building. Being a Boston Landmark is the most protection a building...

Faneuil Gardens | 55 Faneuil Street/266 North Beacon Street | Brighton

Roads are really expensive to build. I agree there should be more here--the superblock is pretty much the symbol of failed public housing. But I suspect that BHA doesn't want public streets in their property and/or can't afford to build them. But imagine real streets with parallel parking...

    150 Kneeland Street | Chinatown

Yes, the economy is certainly not helping. It will be interesting to see if the Fed drops interest rates (starting to see signs) and whether that starts to impact changes. But the city could have policies that encourage more housing development and it doesn't. People I know who work in City...

Or selling it? I'm not sure how that would work with the parking for P being under N. But seems like a possibility

    150 Kneeland Street | Chinatown

The current mayor is really focused on IZ rather than on housing creation. I think it makes good headlines? It's odd because she has another goal of increasing population--which really can't happen until we get a lot more housing built at all levels (mostly missing middle)
