Bulfinch Crossing | Congress Street Garage | West End

This project is really "burdened" by the garage removal. I can only imagine how expensive it has been. I think they need to get that done to build the next residential tower. You can now see what part of the garage is remaining and will be screened by that tower. I think there's also a hotel...

Bulfinch Crossing | Congress Street Garage | West End

Someone's probably said this, but seeing this new vista in the city really points out the strength of the original Bullfinch Crossing proposal of smaller buildings to the east and a strong through-block connector from Congress to Canal. I know we will never see that now, but a giant lab building...

Allston Post | 25-39 Harvard Avenue | Allston

You can always go to the ZBA to add residential--and that has happened a lot, like in this case. But the BPDA is also working on the zoning for these kinds of areas: https://www.bostonplans.org/planning/planning-initiatives/squares-streets

On The Dot | 505 Dorchester Avenue | South Boston

These are really large buildings. The height is a lot lower than the PLAN allowed--I don't know why they didn't use all of that height.

I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

The city does seem to be doing some planning for the area: https://www.bostonplans.org/planning/planning-initiatives/beacon-park-yard-regional-framework https://www.bostonplans.org/planning/planning-initiatives/allston-brighton-needs-assessment I don't know a lot about either of these but...

State Street HQ | One Congress | Bulfinch Crossing | West End

Sure, but what's nest? Green because the Celtics win? Hot Pink for breast cancer? Purple because it's the CEO's favorite color? State Street is a bank and they are barely in that building (subleasing a lot of their space). I love the cacophony of signage in Chinatown. It's organic and...

State Street HQ | One Congress | Bulfinch Crossing | West End

I hate it. I admit to hating all high building signage and stuff that randomly changes is even worse

That is 495 Dorchester Ave not 505

I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

This is super interesting. The car-centric nature of the redesign has been an issue for a while and it's nice to see it all summarized so well. And, given that the Harvard land is being developed right now I'm not sure how those four-lane roads are going to happen.

Harvard Enterprise Research Campus | 100 Western Avenue | Allston

The developer also brought in a star studded cast of designers and the buildings are resoundingly meh. And we can't blame the BPDA because they didn't change at all after they were filed.

Allston Yards (Stop and Shop) | 60 Everett St | Allston

It's disappointing that the MBTA bus network redesign isn't doing much here. As I recall, New Balance had to do their own traffic counts to convince the MBTA that more trains should stop at the station. But with more residential and particularly the new grocery store better bus service seems...

ACC/NU Residence Hall | 840 Columbus Ave | Northeastern University

Good point--I was thinking about the area after Melnea Cass when the street gets really wide and the Southwest Corridor is on one side of the street. I know that BTD is looking at center bus lanes there, which will really change that character.

ACC/NU Residence Hall | 840 Columbus Ave | Northeastern University

Tremont is much the same--it's probably too wide to be a real retail corridor but more options aimed a local residents seem like they could work.

Hyde Park Infill and Small Developments

I hope someone buys it and builds it. It's a very solid project in an area that can support more housing.

Pretty sure the neighbors on Comm Ave are involved in that decision.

This is good to see, thanks for sharing! I suppose the Globe was covering what was finished but I agree that some info about future projects would have been a good addition.

South Harbor Project | Hanson Street | Lynn

Yes, I don't think we've seen any really significant residential proposed outside of BHA properties. It's always about 3:1 lab to residential.

    Logan Airport Capital Projects

I flew out and back into Terminal E in November. A lot of it is nicely upgraded. But the entry sequence through customs continues to be really awful. It's dark, with very low ceilings, and the signage isn't great. The ceilings probably aren't going to change, but a good clean and paint and...

South Harbor Project | Hanson Street | Lynn

I think it is super interesting that a major Boston developer is going to Lynn to build housing. Getting a project like this in Boston seems so impossible.

Washington Plaza (Whole Foods Redevelopment) | 15 Washington St. | Brighton

Next step is approval at the ZBA. Once that's done (if it gets through, which I think is a big if because the ZBA seems to be overly attuned to the NIMBY crowd), they need to do construction drawings and then get started. So maybe later in 2024 at the earliest
