New England Revolution Stadium | 173 Alford Street | Boston-Everett

Re: Somerville Soccer Stadium I don't think any soccer fans in Boston have that illusion either -- at least not with a crap-tastic owner like Bob Kraft at the helm of the Revolution.

    Biking in Boston

Hubway hasn't updated their map to include non-Cambridge stations yet, because they're not yet active, but it looks like there will be at least one new station when the whole system reopens. Trum Field is fairly large and I'm not sure where the station will be. Hopefully it's not near the...

New England Revolution Stadium | 173 Alford Street | Boston-Everett

Re: Somerville Soccer Stadium I don't think the Krafts would build a stadium for the Revolution in an urban location unless a municipality gave them a lot of public funding to do so. Because that's never going to happen, the Revolution will not have an urban stadium until the team passes to a...

    Biking in Boston

I biked to work today as well. There was a respectable amount of bike traffic on Beacon/Hampshire today considering how cold it was. In general, I've been impressed with the ridership in my area (Somerville/Cambridge) this winter, even in conditions that I won't ride in (snow/slush). Also, I...

There's a small bike rotary on the Cape Cod Rail Trail where it intersects with the Old Colony Rail Trail in Harwich.

There have been a few more Hubway additions in the last few days: Green St (JP) Jackson Sq (JP) Summer St / Cutter St (Somerville) I didn't realize Somerville was getting another infill, but it's a good location at the other end of Davis.

    Biking in Boston

The long-promised Hubway expansion seems to be underway. According to the map, there are four new stations in JP, one in Southie, and three infills (Milk/India, Charles/Beacon, Brookline/Burlington). It looks like there are a total of 16 scheduled to go in. I'm not sure why some are still...

I'm not sure how official these locations are, but coUrbanize has been updated to show proposed locations for the Hubway expansion in JP/Roxbury/Dot, South Boston, and Charlestown. In some cases there is a fixed location, but in others they have provided 2-3 options and are looking for...

It looks like a new Hubway station just went in at Binney and 6th St on the edge of Kendall Square and East Cambridge

    Biking in Boston

According to the map, there are three new stations in Cambridge and three in Somerville. Porter Square went in on 6/17, Mass Ave/Cameron and Broadway/Fayette went in on 7/2 and the three Somerville locations are going in today.

Strange, and after Nicole Freedman has spent so much time talking up the importance of density over coverage. I hope they expect these locations to attract a lot of commuters to and from the city center because nobody else is going to be using these stations for any other purpose.

Boston released a Cyclist Safety Report yesterday. Unfortunately it appears that there have been some clerical mistakes in the data and a new report should be uploaded soon. The report I linked to indicates that 28% of accidents are caused by cyclists running red lights. The correct figure is 6%.

Biking the Boston 'Burbs (Trails, MDC, & Towns beyond Hubway area)

Interesting, I do not follow Belmont town politics. I commute up the Minuteman from Somerville and although my route does not quite take me along these roads, my general proximity has led me to follow Arlington's Mass Ave debate and Somerville's Beacon St project. I thought that the sound and...

Biking the Boston 'Burbs (Trails, MDC, & Towns beyond Hubway area)

Speaking of fixes, I noticed that Arlington re-paved a few small areas of the Minuteman where roots and/or frost heaves had created significant bumps. One was near the Lexington line just south of Bow St. The other was a brutal bump near the bike shop that has a back door that opens up to the...

    Biking in Boston

Agreed. The parking lot / Somerville Ave / Mass Ave is such a crazy area that you don't want Hubway riders from West Somerville needlessly crossing that area, only to walk back in the other direction to the shopping plaza.

I would argue that Porter Square is the biggest missing link within the current Hubway footprint. The Davis/PHC/Ball Sq stations aren't that useful at the moment, being on their own island.
