Copley Place Expansion and Tower | Back Bay

Re: Copley Place plan calls for condo tower I'm pretty sure the original protesters also wanted things to stay the way they were before the BRA demolished their neighborhood in favor of a parking garage.

    🔷 Open Thread

Er...yeah, Nagasaki is in extreme southwest Japan, basically swimming distance from the Korean peninsula, while the tsunami wreaked havoc on the northeast. About as different as you can get for such a small nation. Those "arches" are called torii, the most ubiquitous and recognizable...

    Biking in Boston

A different type of bike rotary on Stanford's campus. This picture shows how proper etiquette can be self-enforced.

Whighlander Posts Off Topic A Lot, or: Briv is a Jerk (from the Greenway Thread)

Can someone explain how Whiglander came to be called 'Westy' by many members of the forum? Is there some cultural reference I'm not getting? I thought I was around when he first showed up a few years back.

West Roxbury Infill and Small Developments

Uh...so, like, I just drove down Lagrange St in that border region between Brookline, Newton, and West Roxbury and was shocked to find that a row of SFHs had been replaced by a group of maybe five three- and four-story multifamily dwellings. It's not exactly urban, but it does prove that change...

    Brookline Infill and Small Developments

^ I just hope I live long enough to see at least ONE single story retail building in JFK crossing replaced by something befitting of a "Main Street." Or to see the TJ Maxx parking filled in, whichever comes first. 109 Sewall from my visit a few days ago...

    100 Pier 4 | 136-146 Northern Avenue | Seaport

Re: New residential mid-tower set for Pier 4 The 21-story tower in question appears to be the tallish glass box in the background. The entire development consists of three buildings, stepping up in height from the waterfront.

    Allston-Brighton Infill and Small Developments

Walked by 9-23 Griggs today... was shocked to find tons of construction activity going on! No traces of the old auto repair garage left. Lots of large dirt piles being pushed around. Anyone seen a rendering of the 5-story apt that's supposed to go up here?

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Re: Green Line to Medford to start in 2011 lulz. At least this will give me a few extra minutes each week when I'm not naively checking the Green line STEP and MGNA websites for nonexistent new updates...

    Brookline Infill and Small Developments

So, I had a hunch this project (see page 3) might have finally got going. Sure enough... ^ from the architects website. No idea how recent that crappy construction pic is. Of course there's a gigantic setback full of green things. NoBro is like LA...all these dense apartment buildings...
