Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Re: 111 Federal St. | Formerly Trans National Place (Winthrop Square) Part 2 So that would make it, 75-101-111 Federal then, right? Just skimmed through the proposals, and I'm a big fan of what HYM is proposing, with the relocation of the Shrine. I'd like to see Accordia's tower with HYM's...

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Re: 111 Federal St. | Formerly Trans National Place (Winthrop Square) Part 2 I like the idea of relocating st. Antony's to the Winthrop square garage site and building the tower between Arch & Otis streets. It would separate the tower from 100 Summer & 101 Fed. As it stands, a new tower would...

Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

They're coming from 30 Dalton. Take a look at this photo below, it looks like some rebar going up, so I assume they've started some kind of pour. I haven't been down to the site, and I'm not well versed in foundations so I'm not exactly sure what is being poured.

A lay down area is just a space designated for storing & staging materials. A washout area is a site that's designated for concrete trucks rinse out their trucks & chutes. If you look at the picture below, there's the guy on the back of the truck with a hose peering in. As you can imagine...

Looks like they're just using it as lay down space/wash out area. For the time being.

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

Forget about the marketing nonsense. I walk by it every day, and my latest count is 22/23 floors above street level. I Figure that the protection screen is shielding 3-4 floors, the floor they're currently forming/pouring and the 2-3 below.

I'd have to say at best it'll probably be a nice place to sit and have lunch. Grab some Sam LaGrassa's and enjoy some time outside the office.

South End Infill and Small Developments

Are you saying this is an abortion of architecture? (ba dum ching!) FWIW, I don't hate it, I think it would do better if the addition was separated from the spire, so that from the street it looked more like a building behind the church instead of a random block dropped on top.

New England Revolution Stadium | 173 Alford Street | Boston-Everett

Re: Site in Hub top choice for a soccer stadium The Olympics happening is still a very big uncertainty, I'd much rather see Kraft build his stadium ASAP and have Boston 2024 work around it. I'm dying to take the T to a game.

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

It would be wonderful, and not totally unprecedented. I know of our own whale mural down the south end, then came across these examples... The first one is apparently in Detroit, not sure about the second. Something could definitely be done, but it would probably be a bear to get approved.

I'd find it hard to believe that they didn't know those were there. Here's a couple posts from a few pages back: You can see the access covers in the first one, and one of the locations where they did test bores in the second. Also, from the soil assessment they identified release of fuel...

    General Infrastructure

There has to be a break even point in the price you charge. Where the price of the toll doesn't disuade people from coming into town or hampering business, but is enough for them to consider alternate modes of transportation. For those inside 128, they likely don't need to get on a highway, they...

MBTA Winter 2015: Failure and Recovery

Re: MBTA & Regular Driving May Be Shut Down During Coming Snowstorm! I saw that video of them using that plow on UHub this morning and my first thought was "How long will that take to derail?" Even if that sled is full of cement, it still seems to light.

    General Infrastructure

Just came across this New York Times Article and found it rather interesting. A NYC transit advocacy group proposing congestion pricing for the CBD of Manhattan. It'd be good to see some more tolls implemented coming into Boston, particularly on I-93 north & south of town.

    Poll: The Next Big Project

I voted UR, because I took the question to mean what would you want to see built if the funds were available. In terms of what is more reasonable/what we could get done with funds currently available & the political will to push the projects through, I'd like to revise my vote to be in favor...
