How much more appropriate would it be if this was a Sony building instead of State St.? :)

    121 Seaport Boulevard | Parcel L2 | Seaport Square

Odd.. I was fairly sure that WS was already the original developer over that space and came up with the original design. There was nothing to "take over."

    121 Seaport Boulevard | Parcel L2 | Seaport Square

Wow ok, so the uprooting of everything that was here is due to a leaky garage roof? That's a whole lot of rework. I suppose it's better than short term patching..

Seaport Neighborhood - Infill and Discussion

I've been wondering about this as well and have not been able to find an answer. Are they just scrapping the "park" altogether?

Hmm.. I see. I googled "modern outdoor bench design" to see the variety of things that came up and I suppose you're right that there are either "better" or more complementary designs out there.

I think the benches actually make sense as far as where and how they're placed. They're screwed down to the ground, so you'd want them to be out of the way so that it can provide more flexibility with what can be done with the open area (depending on season or event). It also makes snow cleanup...

Yeah, it's a non-corner lot in a fairly narrow street that often feels more like an alley than a street. A plain, clean design works here. Probably better this than something overly designed and imposing.

looks better today and this is before more people started to populate the tables and such

The St Regis Residences (former Whiskey Priest site) | 150 Seaport Blvd | Seaport

They've been pushing the branding as one of its big draws. Not saying that it would, but just to entertain some of the speculation in this thread of how things may/could turn out, it'd be interesting if this were to lose the St. Regis branding relatively shortly after completion. I'd be pissed...

100 Shawmut Avenue | South End

There is zero connection between the old façade and the new part of the building. Makes me wonder if it was worth saving at all. It doesn't even look like they spruced up the exterior of the old façade.

Amazon Office Tower I | 111 Harbor Way (Seaport Square Parcel L4) | Seaport

To clarify, I just simply meant that calling this “Southie” doesn’t sound right to me. I’m well aware of the development over the past 10+ yrs. I’m also aware it’s officially referred to as South Boston Waterfront, but I don’t think anyone really says “hey meet me at Empire or Envoy in Southie,”...

The St Regis Residences (former Whiskey Priest site) | 150 Seaport Blvd | Seaport

I'm just imagining how many rappelling passes it'll take to clean the windows :).

The St Regis Residences (former Whiskey Priest site) | 150 Seaport Blvd | Seaport

I think this building has the highest cost/sqft in the area at the moment? However, in terms of gain/resale, I still tend to think that regardless of whatever upgrades one may do over the life of the building/unit, the things you can't replace are the location and views. There's one side of this...

The St Regis Residences (former Whiskey Priest site) | 150 Seaport Blvd | Seaport

I was actually just going to reply similarly. I agree with you about the "skyline." In fact, every photo I've seen from a skyline perspective makes the Seaport come across quite horribly if being honest. That said, I think the impact at the street level, arguably much more important, is coming...

Seaport Neighborhood - Infill and Discussion

Yes, it's been a nightmare recently on most days. Perfect storm of the foot traffic and one closed street for the winter shops, various closed lanes from on-going construction and electrical work, and valet lanes. And that's not including the fairly consistent instances of double-parking. It's...

The Ropewalk | 5th Street | Charlestown Navy Yard

Agree.. I thought part of the project was supposed to have included revitalizing the exterior. This thing still looks abandoned.

Just some additional information on the retail space in this article below that was sent to me by a neighbor of mine who's always very much on top of such things. I'm happy that it's not just the same retailers being copy/pasted in several developments over and over again...
