Seaport Neighborhood - Infill and Discussion

Pretty darn nice coming from a phone camera! Is that accurate? A Samsung Galaxy 9???

MassMutual | 10 Fan Pier Blvd | Fan Pier Parcel E | Seaport

Mostly agreed, though I'd say the logo looks.. inoffensive, not necessarily good/great, but it's fine.. could've been worse so can't really complain. I always thought the giant Vertex logo next door was too gaudy, for example. So I'm very glad it's nothing like that. And the building itself is...

The St Regis Residences (former Whiskey Priest site) | 150 Seaport Blvd | Seaport

Ah, I see now. I couldn’t really tell when I originally saw the post on my phone but get what you’re saying now. Bummer.

    The New Retail Thread

Oh that is sad. It's kind of a generic chain, but I still enjoyed going there from time to time. The Tatte patio nearby is still dog friendly I think.

Seaport Neighborhood - Infill and Discussion

Ah, I was wondering how you got such recent satellite images where it even shows MassMutual to be done, because it's certainly not that up-to-date on Google Maps. The new images must be only about ~2 weeks old.

South Boston Innovation Campus | 2 Harbor Street | Seaport

Say what you will about the architecture of the Seaport area on the side towards the Seaport Blvd bridge, but it is miles better than the crop of newer and upcoming buildings (labs, offices, other maritime/industrial use) in the areas owned by Massport. Anything past the Omni hotel looks quite...

The St Regis Residences (former Whiskey Priest site) | 150 Seaport Blvd | Seaport

Two reactions from the latest photo batch: 1. Oh! So the white framing on the slider doors is just protective tape? If so, that's good. 2. Wow, I knew those balconies were going to be large.. but damn, they look baller for the cruel cold Northeast. Similar to the sizes typical of newer Miami...

Seaport Neighborhood - Infill and Discussion

I read the article, albeit a bit quickly, but would it be fair to say that NIMBYs aren't specifically in Seaport or Fort Point? I see points raised that neighbors weren't aware until construction started and the want for some accommodations to be made to mitigate noise, but I didn't see anything...

Seaport Neighborhood - Infill and Discussion

The other problem I have with this is that we all know because it is a public project, it'll take much longer than it has to. Preliminary estimates point to 20 months. That is already pitiful and does not account for potential (guaranteed) delays.

My first impression of the white framing for the sliders is not good.. we'll see.

Echelon Seaport | 133-135 Seaport Blvd | Seaport

I can only hope the retail spaces will eventually give off similar vibes to what the renderings were showing. Right now, the courtyard looks pretty sad with zero tenants.

NEMA Boston | 399 Congress St. | Seaport

I think it looks better in person overall than in photos, though I never really noticed the glass being an issue until now - just figured it was the nature of the reflections. It's certainly no example of inspired design, but I thought the execution was well done, other than a couple of areas...

How did you conclude that nm88 was directing that comment to you alone and not everyone here in general? I can speak for myself only here, but the tone in many of your posts (I repeat, tone, not talking content), such as this one above in response to a pretty innocuous post, comes off as...

I don't think that would ever fly here. I can imagine backlash from those who consider this to be hostile design.

Crazy how easy it is to see through the windows. Figured that they would've chosen glass that is a bit more reflective.

MassMutual | 10 Fan Pier Blvd | Fan Pier Parcel E | Seaport

The building itself is such a looker, especially when compared to its two neighbors. The Fan Pier section is finally (just about) completed, about 14 years after the groundbreaking of One Marina Park, the neighbor to the left. It’s been a long time coming.

Unsurprisingly, it all just boils down to having different views on what the desirable standards are rather than saying that one side doesn’t have any standards. Your view on what “better” is will differ from some others and vice versa. You may believe a school is needed. I don’t, since the...

Seaport Square (Formerly McCourt Seaport Parcels)

Thanks for the info on this. The lane closures on Seaport Blvd and on Sleeper St for this have been a giant headache over the past number of months. At least I now know what they're for, though it sounds like it'll continue being a headache for quite some time.

This may be a whole new can of worms, but I never really understood where this whole narrative of Seaport being a neighborhood (and thus "requires" all the elements of a neighborhood) came from. The area in the Seaport permitted for residential use is not very large relative to that for...
