    http://s.lnimg.com/attachments/5460CF8C-5F79-47A0-A576-C9F45D4BC699.pdf I guess this is what's happening.

Dorm Tower @ Berklee College of Music | 168 Mass Ave | Back Bay

Anyway, my father works for a large glazing subcontractor (projects include 45 Stuart St, Avalon Exeter, 75 Ames St), and he and a coworker happened to walk by this building a few weeks ago. They said the installation of the glass work is some of the worst they've seen. I'm surprised I didn't...

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

This is a must. It has seemed ridiculous to me for some time that there should be a distinct raised sidewalk through an area that is basically restricted to pedestrians. It would be much more comfortable if there was one continuous surface.

Boston Landing | New Balance Complex | Brighton

Re: New Brighton Landing | New Balance Complex Yeah, it vaguely reminds me of ING House in Amsterdam, sometimes referred to as the shoe. I'd post a photo, but I still haven't figured out how that works. Avalon Exeter, despite not being that tall, really stands out from way out in Brighton!

Boston Properties Office Tower | 888 Boylston Street | Back Bay

It's strange that this doesn't mention the tower at all, but I am guessing that since this retail expansion was only just approved 10 days ago that the recent activity in the plaza is related to the tower. Then again, I am guessing these will happen concurrently. There was a group of about...

MassDOT Pike Parcels 12 - 15 | Boylston St. and Mass. Ave | Back Bay

Still out there and looking busy this morning. This only has Turnpike Authority approval though, right? I don't think it's gone through BRA yet.

Avalon Exeter | 77 Exeter Street | Back Bay

That asphalt is just a temporary surface for that sidewalk, right?

    Fenway Infill and Small Developments

There is a lot of foreshortening in this picture, which I'm guessing was taken roughly between the intersection of Boylston St and Mass Ave and Hynes Convention Center. That crane is for the construction of the new condo building at 1085 Boylston St.

The Factory at 46 Wareham | South End

Re: The Factory at 46 Wareham I knew this had to be Hacin + Associates. I thought the style of the rendering was a little bit off, but this whole black-metal-paneled, abstract, rectilinear volumes sprouting from a brick base is apparently his go to solution. FP3 is one of the better attempts...

    Continuum | Barry's Corner | Allston

Re: Barry's Corner Commons and renaming Barry's Corner There's already plenty of steel above ground here too! This one is moving fast!

Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

Off topic, but how reliable is that BRA model of the city? There's some obvious things missing, so it maybe isn't up to date, but I'm noticing that the massing in place on Parcel 15 looks quite a bit smaller than what I remember the DOT having approved for the site. What is happening with that...

Assembly Square Infill and Small Developments | Somerville

+1 Thank you. After that last round of photos and the stream of laudatory reception that followed I kept thinking, "I can't possibly be the only person who thinks this looks like a complete and utter joke." It isn't even good as the faux-whatever-it-is-trying-to-be. I actually find it...

    Back Bay Maps 1951-Present

Ward Maps got me up to 1951 between the Bromley and Sanborn atlases, and I do indeed have the Bunting book. It is interesting that the latter is out of sync in a number of cases with the former two sources, as it will sometimes give a later date to a building even when it shows up on an earlier...

    Back Bay Maps 1951-Present

It is my impression that there are some people on this board who are pretty good at hunting down maps. I am doing a project and need to find maps with building footprints for the Back Bay from the time of its inception to today. Bromley and Sanborn get me from 1874 to 1951, and there's a good...

What are you listening to now?

This whole album on repeat! Did you make it to the show? I couldn't; damn BAC and their night classes.

Copley Place Expansion and Tower | Back Bay

Re: Copley Place plan calls for condo tower Since it's not actually one of the four standardized and accepted approaches within the discipline there, technically, is not technical term. Facadism, facadectomy, and facadomy are all used with about equal meaning. I'd add fucked up to the list...

Broad Institute Expansion | 75 Ames Street | Cambridge - Kendall Sq

Re: 75 Ames St. (Broad Institute Expansion) Kendall Sq. Sure, the streetwall is necessary for shaping the urban space of a street, but what exactly is so successful about this particular street to begin with? This building doesn't do anything to improve this as a place to be. As for the...

Broad Institute Expansion | 75 Ames Street | Cambridge - Kendall Sq

Re: 75 Ames St. (Broad Institute Expansion) Kendall Sq. This is no top-tier lab building; it may be a top-tier-lab building. Who knows, perhaps this will actually be a fantastic space for scientific research and will provide its scientists with the best of amenities, functional, social...

Dorm Tower @ Berklee College of Music | 168 Mass Ave | Back Bay

Re: Berklee Expansion Plans This is like one of those buildings that everyone knows is there, but the architect never puts on his webpage. I happen to think this is one of the better buildings being constructed in Boston at the moment, but I still agree with a lot of the above criticism. My...
