    Boston College Master Plan

Hopefully they go bold with whatever design is chosen. If a school absolutely insists on the “retro” collegiate gothic look, there’s a few examples out there recently that really pulled it off well — Yale, Vanderbilt, University of Richmond, University of Florida. I do like Stokes Hall, though.

Yes, the Heights article mentioned the plan to update the facades to the cobblestone and green roof aesthetic.

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

The 2nd floor facade (in the second to last image) is temporary correct? I’m curious as to how the new arches interact and connect with the modern tower.

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

They arch gaps appear to mimic the arches on the original South St. facade — a nice nod to the history of the building IMO. I appreciate those small details.

Shreve, Crump & Low Redevelopment | 334-364 Boylston Street | Back Bay

I'm not "trying" to say anything. What I stated is pretty clear. However, if it helps you understand, the vernacular of the Back Bay and its orientation is a section of Boston that has similarities to DC, more so than other areas. Not a big deal or statement. Moving on.

Actually, none of those places except for… Back Bay.

Shreve, Crump & Low Redevelopment | 334-364 Boylston Street | Back Bay

Well, if anywhere in Boston shows resemblance to DC it would be Back Bay.

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Just curious, why are you suggesting 500 feet as a magic number that Boston will not surpass again? When all points suggest that a next boom would actually require higher buildings to have any profitability.

Say what you will about “glass towers” — from this angle Millennium, Winthrop, and SST are really helping to balance out the skyline.

What is the archway material used here — is it limestone?

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Wow - what a terrible record they have. The DC Union Station retail decline is just downright depressing at this point. The Amtrak waiting area is dingy at best. Even marginal improvements will make a big difference there.

    NYC Architecture and Development

50 West Street is quite striking in person. What comes through somewhat in your images is how the individual units give the building a lot of movement. I don’t know if that was intentional.

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

The biggest issue I see with the main terminal is that they crowd the center area with the concessions. It makes the whole thing cluttered and claustrophobic. Get rid of all that and make it an airy waiting area. There is plenty of underutilized spaces on the perimeter for a coffee shop and...

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

I’m pleasantly surprised by the impact it is having from many angles. I initially thought it would be a noticeable but “filler” building like so many skyscrapers in the CBD. It’s clearly a standout.

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

That’s probably the best vantage point of SST to see how it will interact with its neighbors. I like it!

The presentation confirms the long term vision is to demolish the Social Work building to create a larger lawn. Also, Pardee will be mass timber construction!
