Here's a specific thread just for the thing I love to find--random photos, diagrams, and plans of buildings and streets in Boston, from over the years. Sometimes I notice that Dirty Old Boston isn't quite the place to dump out some things, so voila!
But not everything I come across originates from Flickr. The majority of photos, plans, etc are from books, some photos from Flickr, or just from totally random places around the Internet.
Copley Place seems like it would've been a very entertaining project to build. (Before they remodeled it), it was so full of color & personality, even though one might call it off as 80s and gaudy nowadays.
I had no idea that the sculpture was still at the Pru even after the Prudential Tower's lobby was remodeled. And Boston Properties renovated the place?
This couldn't have been a dream. I could've sworn that Google Maps/Earth recently added more comprehensive street views (i.e parks, the Prudential courtyards), but they randomly vanished after that. Anyone else seen those?
Went there recently. It may not be tall but the views are absolutely beautiful. Even on weekends, the people running the lobby desk will let you in, if you want the observation deck.
I definitely know someone mentioned this, so I'll just say I'm reposting this into this thread--
The building at 801 Boylston Street across from the Pru has these decorative facade panels that resemble spotlights. The building at 801, built around 1997-1999, was specifically meant to be a...
The Pru Tower being lit up for an apparent TV commercial (does anyone know what it was for?) The mall is finishing up construction at the bottom, probably around summer of 1993.
Say what you want about the building, but if it was destroyed and a new contemporary building was put in its place, it would be nowhere near as unique as its former.
I've been scouring the web for photos of that building's interior recently... Best I could find are two photos I unfortunately lost, of the building's convector enclosures & of some Cabot lab.
