Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

Sichuan Airlines planning to launch nonstop Boston-Chengdu in May. If anyone says they saw this one coming, they're lying. http://atwonline.com/airports-routes/sichuan-airlines-launch-five-intercontinental-routes

Pier 4 Condo Building (Former Anthony's site) | Seaport

Oh please, let's conveniently forget that South Station is a 15 minute walk away. Stamford has absolutely nothing over the Seaport, so how about we stop this nonsense?

    50 Liberty @ Fan Pier | 50 Liberty Drive | Seaport

Really? I think they'll be a hit, assuming the plywood railings are temporary and the bottom is some sort of cafe. What's not to like about elevated seating on the water?

    MassMutual Fan Pier | Seaport

Is that the undeveloped site between One Marina Park Drive and 50 Liberty?

Quaker Lane + Congress Square | Downtown

The striped spandrels completely kill this thing and are a total 180 from the "jewel box" renderings. They make it look like the building took off from Rt. 128 and landed in downtown Boston. But I'm holding out hope for the ground level, that may be enough to redeem this project.

    Amazon HQ2 RFP

I've actually been thinking about this quite a bit. What if Boston offered a $7 billion package made up solely of public education, transportation, and affordable housing investments, with ZERO direct tax benefits for Amazon? That would send a very powerful message, and may very well lose. But...

    Amazon HQ2 RFP

You really think Bezos and his executives are going to be doing day to day lobbying of Congress or government agencies? On the few occasions they do, they can just hop on a corporate jet to DC and get an immediate audience. The HQ in DC = government access argument is completely overblown...

    Amazon HQ2 RFP

If you actually read my post you would see that's exactly the point I was making. My question stands: Amazon already has a DC lobbying presence and owns the town's newspaper of record, how would hiring 50,000 engineers and software developers in the DC area help them influence government policy?

    Amazon HQ2 RFP

I've heard this argument dozens of times and, quite frankly, I don't get it. How does putting their HQ in/around DC give them a stronger hand with the government? DC has no representation in Congress, so if they locate within the District they will have 0 people with political power advocating...

    Rosa Parks Boulevard

This is a great idea. If there's any way you can get it to the right person at City Hall I have no doubt Walsh will jump on it.

    Crazy Transit Pitches

Public officials would no doubt scream safety and accessibility, but there's no reason why those should be major obstacles. Check out Amsterdam: And Venice: Fast, safe, accessible ferries. Amsterdam's slightly bulkier ferry works well in a cold-weather climate, but Venice's could easily be...

    Crazy Transit Pitches

There's been a lot of talk of reviving ferries in Boston, and NYC has gone full steam ahead on ferries in the East River. So here's a thought: Last year I visited Bangkok, where ferries shuttle tourists and locals up and down the Chao Phraya River. Theses aren't your typical ferries--they are...

    The New Office/Lab Thread

With the recently announced CVS-Aetna merger, I wonder if we'll be hearing about that particular office relocation plan again. CVS is a more or less "local" company, and they've been looking for a foothold in downtown Boston for the same talent reasons as everyone else. Nixing the Aetna-to-NYC...

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

Finally! And given the success Norwegian has had on BOS-LGW I imagine it won't be too long before Level gives Paris-Orly a shot from Logan..

    Amazon HQ2 RFP

IMO that's the real beauty of picking Suffolk Downs as the proposed HQ2 site. It might be the only spot within Boston and its inner-ring suburbs that is surrounded by high density, relatively affordable housing. Revere may not be particularly appealing now, but put in a few thousand Amazon tech...

Lovejoy Wharf | 131 Beverly Street | West End

Having a personal vehicle in downtown Boston will only become less valuable in the future. Assuming the units are selling well now I can't imagine you'd have any problem finding a buyer down the line.

    Amazon HQ2 RFP

How about instead of posting Wikipedia links, you take a trip to Philly? This fear-mongering based on crime stats is one of the reasons so many great US cities fell into decline in the first place. Would be great if this forum, of all places, didn't perpetuate that stereotype.

    Amazon HQ2 RFP

Haha you obviously haven't been to Philly lately. Google "30th St. Station Development" and tell me if that looks like a crime-riddled dump to you. Everything between the Delaware River and UPenn is booming, the city is putting up skyscrapers with height some people on this forum would kill for...

    Amazon HQ2 RFP

Funny to see all this spilled ink on Pittsburgh (both here and across other media) when there is another city in the same state that may be the single best choice in the whole country. Philadelphia is a major city in its own right and perfectly located in the middle of the Northeast Corridor...

Copley Place Expansion and Tower | Back Bay

Posted this question in the "What's Happening with Project X" thread, but better chances of an answer here: Copley Place is a tall, fully permitted luxury condo project in one of the most desirable spots in Boston, that overcame intense neighborhood opposition and is grandfathered in against...
