That makes sense. At least the residents in the Back Bay Tower can still retain their views to the west. I know they raised a big stink about it when the doomed Waterview was proposed.

I applaud Avesta for developing the property, but another level/story or two wouldn't hurt, especially at this location.

I think that ^ was posted in the forum late last year. Does anyone know the status of the Pine and Bracket Street development?

Nice to see more progress on the Bay House. Looking at that last picture makes me wonder if any of the residents will be able to see over that big ole' garage? This reminds me of the Old Port where the garages (well, one in particular) are taller than the buildings around them!

Dr. Strangehat - I agree with you on most of your points in your last post, except for the gun turrets (funny though)! Allagash - Read the article, and a lot of points make sense. I don't agree with the Appalachian Trail argument though. It crosses over and under superhighways all up and down...

First - Corey - For a man with no car, that's a heck of a lot of walking for those awesome pics! Thanks! Second - The East-West highway, mass transit and other highway issues. Though I think the East-West highway deserves it's own thread, I will put my two cents in. I'm all for it. I do agree...

That would look better with 3-5 more floors!

Your letter to the chair was all net/right on! I share the same view you do in regards to the height study and how it can positively affect Bayside and the downtown as a whole. I think a lot of us here in the forum are happy that anything gets built, even if it's a stump, but something's got to...

    Sanford, Maine

Today Sanford becomes Maine's 23rd city, while remaining 7th in population! Congratulations! http://www.fosters.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20121227/GJNEWS03/121229484/-1/SANNEWS

Thanks for the updates guys! A lot going before the white stuff flies! I'm assuming that the Canal Plaza hotel got the go ahead, any new renders (post planning/historical board changes, if there were any)?

That makes sense. A similar effect could happen if the Canal Plaza Hotel is built, framing 1 Canal Plaza and the skyline behind it while blending in with the rest of the skyline.

Yeah, the 65 ft. limit does stink, but it's a limit that can be tweaked. I think the Opechee corp. doesn't want to hassle with requesting a variance for additional height like the Procantti (sp?) group did. I just think if they put in a little more time with an additional floor or two, they...

I like it. Too bad Opechee is stuck on the 6 story level. A push up to 7 or 8 stories wouldn't be bad. This should be a nice addition to the Commercial street wall as it extends Westward.
