    Crazy Transit Pitches

This is the sexiest thing I've ever read on this forum.

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

Re: North-South Rail Link I feel like the connection to Aquarium gets more important if we want to bring in the ridership form Lynn via BLX.

Re: North-South Rail Link Which rapid transit line would go there though?

    Gov't Center Station Rebuild

I think the headhouses at Copley are my favorite new ones (not included the beautifully restored iron work of the Library entrance). They are clearly entrances to the system, but they don't get in the way either. Ditto Arlington, although Arlington is a little more blended into the urban fabric.

Pierce Boston (née The Point )| Boylston St/Brookline Av | Fenway

Re: The Point (Boylston/Brookline) This is one I walked by a thousand times without noticing, but once I did notice it, I can't unsee it. It's like someone plunked a suburban warehouse on top of a brownstone.

MBTA Winter 2015: Failure and Recovery

Appointing an Interim GM is not the same as naming a replacement. Also, wondering who the Governor will pick ≠ you telling us that the Governor will pick the next person.

    Downtown Crossing/Financial District | Discussion

I always thought it would be worthwhile to try and give the non-Common side of Tremont an upgrade. Either take a lane From Tremont or take that section of sidewalk on the road side of the fence, shift that right of way to the other side, widen the sidewalk, add some trees, etc, make it feel like...

    Congestion toll in Boston?

That revenue wouldn't go to fund a better transit system though, and it wouldn't take any cars off the road to improve air quality, both of which I think are important goals for a congestion pricing system.

    Congestion toll in Boston?

Does London use some type of EZ-Pass-esque system to charge? Do they also do license plate photos and mail tickets? I love this idea in theory but always run up against how it would work being implemented given the wide array of local streets that could be used. I don't think we would want to...

Article from WBUR about support for the Olympics dwindling according to recent polling. http://www.wbur.org/2015/02/18/boston-olympics-poll-support-dwindling My favorite quote from the article:

MBTA Winter 2015: Failure and Recovery

Re: MBTA & Regular Driving May Be Shut Down During Coming Snowstorm! That's the part everyone missed. The reports/tweets focused on "it will take a month to get back" but they ignored the part about it taking a month after the last major storm. I doubt we get outa the winter without at least...

    Boston 2024

I understand that, but I think that bothers me is that they are advocating for things in their districts that would hugely balloon the cost, and I feel like when that cost balloons, they will then say "Nope, see, it's too expensive, we can't do it."

    Boston 2024

Couldn't agree more. I love that Boston 2024 is pushing a walkable urban Olympics, and I hate that any legislator outside 495 is pushing a sprawling, disconnected Olympics.

Agreed - if it were half or 2/3 as tall, I think it would work 10x better.

Important to remember: the no public money pledge is about the non-transportation elements of the bid.

What else do you think has gone bad politically for them this week? I kind of think all of the annoyance at the T and roads etc. has been good - these are problems we have because we always kick the can down the road. If we have a firm deadline, we can't keep kicking the can.

MBTA Winter 2015: Failure and Recovery

Re: MBTA & Regualr Driving may be Shut Down During Coming Snowstorm! He was against keeping the gas tax tied to inflation. That took literally hundreds of millions of dollars out of our transportation system for the next 10 years. He's gonna have a tough time fixing the problem without any money.
