Looks like DCR will be doing closures of the Southwest Corridor path during the Orange Line shutdown. Might as well make it even harder to get around at this point.

Made a very sloppy render in Illustrator of Wellington Circle overlaid with a Continuous Flow Intersection. A lot of land is opened up on the western side and crossing distances are shortened. There should also be room for bicycle infrastructure, either on road or with a series of paths outside...

Wellington Circle is so massive it could easily be turned into a Continuous Flow Intersection with room to spare. Something creative would have to be done to incorporate Middlesex Ave but it would definitely be better than what's there now.

They put down the paint and put up signs a couple of weeks ago. I figured it was already in use but I'm not ever on the road at that time. Hopefully they actually do some enforcement because people are definitely going to try driving in it when traffic is backed up.

That makes sense, I would imagine an old drawn map wouldn't be 100% accurate. It also looks like you can see some remnants of embankments when you turn on terrain view in google maps which end up aligning with your tracing. Very cool!

I thought it made more sense following the power line ROW. But looking at the historical map it seems like it only crossed the Charles River once in Rockville and then cut over Village Street near the intersection with Farm Street before ending in the town center.
