Cape Cod Rail, Bridges and Highways

It's not that those have been eliminated, and more that they're seasonal only routes (the Bourne Run in pink is likely the Cape Flyer to Woods Hole ferries shuttle). There's also the seasonal Provincetown/North Truro Shuttle. Now, if you're looking for an actually eliminated route, a few years...

Infrastructure to Nowhere (The Vestigial Infrastructure Thread)

The stop by the pedestrian bridge actually lasted for quite a long time: you can see it in Milesintransit's reviews of the Route 2 buses and on the old MBTA schedule pages. You've also got a pretty old Reddit mention, though I'm annoyed I can't find any direct mention (stop page, route page...

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

Interestingly total travel time from Attleboro to Providence remains pretty consistent in both directions: Pawtucket to Attleboro is 13-17 minutes, while Attleboro to Pawtucket is 9-12 minutes.

    Reasonable Transit Pitches

Just to show off how fast the express buses are: I've found that, despite living in Newton Center, biking to Newton Corner and catching the 504 is actually the fastest way downtown during middays. Obviously I'm in the extreme minority here: for the vast majority of (peak) express riders, a train...

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

1300 series is on the road, so we're one step closer to a trolleybus-less city... Also, despite 1329 being a pretty high number, NETransit gives only 4 buses delivered so far: 1300, 1301, 1308, and 1329. Meanwhile the 3100 series remains off-and-on, currently two on the SL2 and one on the SL3.

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

Here's a clean-but-less-comprehensive agency profile for the MBTA for 2021. You should be able to get most metrics out of that, despite it being a bit annoying to work with.

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Alright, so I see an express shuttle for the Braintree branch this weekend originating from... Quincy Center. Nope, that won't be confusing at all. Though... I haven't seen any official mention of this? Also, a brutal longest scheduled travel time of *42* minutes. This runs every 15 minutes...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

fun fact: the last Ashmont train arrives at 3:14 AM tonight, and the first 15 of the day departs at 3:26 AM.

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

what I find particularly odd is that after those stories and the initial press release, we're back up to a "palatable level of interruption", with 8-9 trains running. did they... just have those sets in reserve and not take them out? despite going down to 5-6 sets?

    Crazy Transit Pitches

I would take your word over mine; I never took it. Looking at weekly ridership data, it doesn't seem like there was a noticeable ridership difference. If buses came back via Boston Providence Hwy, what stops were served inbound? (not that there are really better ways to turn buses around)

    Crazy Transit Pitches

Yeah, they tried 34-to-Dedham-Square in Spring 2022 and cut it right back in Summer 2022. It lengthened 34 headways by a good amount so clearly the ridership wasn't worth it in Dedham.

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

mbtainfo, good for a super quick look up on a route and stop you're super familiar with, not so much for new riders/exploration

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

just to make a point, all 4 buses currently operating on the SL3 are using 40 footers.

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

From what I had heard a shortage of dual modes was a contributing factor. They've been running about half of all trips on both the SL2 and SL3 for pretty much a month by now. EDIT: here's when I asked on twitter last month, obviously take with heapings of salt.

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

But... at Copley (and Kenmore), they just say "Change here for Heath St/VA Medical Center". Why would they have a completely different announcement?

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

For whatever, reason, on the most recent version (v37a) of the CR map, Pawtucket/Central Falls has disappeared.

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

One time I wanted to go up to Lechmere and back just to see Medford test trains terminating there, so I got off a northbound D train, waited around a bit, and got a southbound E without exiting the platform. Technically this could be considered fare evading, because I got off at a station...

That should be covered by a GL extension to Porter, right?
