    11-21 Bromfield Street | DTX | Downtown

Straight talk express - to the point and direct. I like it.

Quaker Lane + Congress Square | Downtown

I love this building too - It looks like a "real building" as opposed to the glass boxes so en vogue these days

    11-21 Bromfield Street | DTX | Downtown

29 storefronts is the operative word here. 29 storefronts in a one block stretch (or two block stretch depending on how you view bromfield). They ain't making new streets downtown, like Bromfield, which are ideal for small local retail/commercial use these days. Boston should be doing...

Boston - Most Embarrassing Blight That Tourists See

Causeway St and the area leading into City sq Charlestown has changed in feel perhaps more than any other corner of Boston in the last 25 years. It certainly feels brighter and maybe more prosperous, but yet less urban than in the early 90s. I would have preferred restoration or rebuilding of...

    The New Retail Thread

Red Barn in Faneuil Hall was my go to spot too, unfortunately I found out last Friday from a city worker behind the construction fence that Red Barn isn't reopening in that location. The first floor of Faneuil Hall reopened yesterday. I did not want to believe the bad news so I went inside to...

Kenmore Square North (WHOOP) | 533-541 Commonwealth Ave | Fenway

Count me in for saving the corner building, it's an important visual anchor and even more important these days given the other side of Kenmore Square was almost entirely remade by the Hotel Commonwealth

Seaport Square (Formerly McCourt Seaport Parcels)

Fk4, see posts #2910 and 2915 on the previous page of this thread and you will find the demographic information for Boston metro area rather than just city limits.

Seaport Square (Formerly McCourt Seaport Parcels)

I think we are on the same page, just to clarify, the "71% white" figure for Metro Boston is white alone, not of hispanic orgin. 11% are of Hispanic orgin who may consider themselves white or black or mixed.

Seaport Square (Formerly McCourt Seaport Parcels)

Metro boston is 71% white, there are larger #'s of Asians and Hispanics than Blacks in the Metro, but as pointed out, the focus seemed to be on Blacks only for the article. Demographic source: https://censusreporter.org/profiles/31000US14460-boston-cambridge-newton-ma-nh-metro-area/ Point...

Seaport Square (Formerly McCourt Seaport Parcels)

Overall, my point being is that after reading the seaport article I can help but wonder how much of the unwelcoming environment blacks feel in the seaport is just due to the fact that Metro Boston has such a low percentage of black population overall. In general I thought the journalism was...

Seaport Square (Formerly McCourt Seaport Parcels)

Although the city of Boston is fairly diverse, I was thinking Metro area demographics which is really controls what you see in Boston center given it's the job, entertainment and nightlife magnet for the whole metro area...

Seaport Square (Formerly McCourt Seaport Parcels)

First off, I think widening income inequality is one of the most pressing issues in this day and age, however those who expect the BRA to do anything significant to mitigate this in the seaport are going to very disappointed. This agency is incapable of even nudging developers to provide a...

Orient Heights BHA Redevelopment | Faywood Ave/Vallar Rd/Waldemar Ave | East Boston

If the goal of the these public housing retrofits is to blend in better with the surrounding neighborhood in an attempt to decrease the stigma of living in what looks to be "public housing" i'd say the town home portion of this project fails. I think the average resident will recognize this...

SBWTC /South Boston Waterfront Transportation Center | Seaport

I'd be skeptical that this garage will help with traffic, anecdotally from what I see in the financial district, it's the cheapskates who circle around and around hoping to find a cheap parking meter spot. There are usually parking spaces available in the expensive indoor parking garages.

Copley Place Expansion and Tower | Back Bay

There is also a qualitative factor in Boston's high housing cost that is hard to analyze with traditional economic supply/demand modeling - there are only so many Beacon Hill/ South End type neighborhoods in Boston. Certain urban neighborhoods whether its Greenwich Village in NY, Park Slope in...
