Pier 4 Condo Building (Former Anthony's site) | Seaport

Interesting isn't it? If you look at the section where the masonry has been installed, you can see some kind of structure exposed where I assume the balconies will be. I wonder if they are using a more intense system to get a really good thermal separation?

Hood Business Park | 480-570 Rutherford Avenue | Charlestown

I can't figure out where all that yellow is going. If I look at the BCDC presentation on the web, there is yellow at the entry and around some building-scale window elements. While I know the mock up isn't showing materials in any kind of quantity relationship, there does seem to be a lot of...

East Boston Infill and Small Developments

Very nicely summarized. I'll add that we are seeing a lot of the same architects over and over again in these neighborhoods. I suspect a lot of them are working on a razor thin margin to get the jobs. And they just can't put any work into the projects--so everything is a bit cookie cutter...

City Hall Plaza Revamp | Government Center

Re: Official City Hall Plaza Proposals Not to mention paving. The City's disabilities commission would like to cover the world in asphalt and concrete. Hopefully someone's advocating for the newer tight set brick pavers. I'm also disappointed that this doesn't seem to address the center...

New Red and Orange Line Cars

I don't know. From what I've heard there are easements all along track 61, out to the marine park. There is a pie in the sky dream of reactivating it for passenger use. And an even more pie in the sky dream of cargo. So the track along the front of the Design Center is in place, even though...

South Boston Infill and Small Developments

189 E. First. I hate to say it, but I would prefer a bland box over this level of whatthefuckery.

    The New Retail Thread

I've seen Paul in Japan too--decent quick food. The one on Washington started out well--the salad nicoise was really good. But it quickly went downhill. Food wasn't ready to be picked up, portions got smaller, and waiter service went away. I really struggle to find somewhere with a decent sit...

    Boston College Master Plan

This part of the BC campus is literally build on an infilled reservoir so it's not too surprising they have flood issues. The field house actually has a big under ground stormwater system (It's in the pnf, but you have to track it down...

    Harvard - Allston Campus

It's funny, you'd think it was Stern, but actually that is our own William Rawn doing his best Stern imitation. It is bland, but, that's what they like at HBS. The HU buildings around Allston are much more interesting and I'm fine with that. The problem I see is one that we see on a lot of newer...

Midtown Hotel Redevelopment | 220 Huntington Avenue | Back Bay

I don't know. That tower was pretty specifically negotiated by John Barros (and maybe the Mayor was involved too) as a way to keep the Huntington Theater--the tower is supposed to be the same volume as the as-of-right building for the parcel, which would have required demoing the theater...

    CH56? What/where is this?

Omni Hotel @ BCEC | Summer St | Seaport

Pretty sure that's intended to be developed. The "transit center" should be completely surrounded by other buildings at some point.

Nice. This is coming along well.

Boston - Most Embarrassing Blight That Tourists See

Not at all. Industrial era bridges are great and lots of people like them. It's awful that the city doesn't bother with maintenance of anything. So we are loosing our last two cool bridges that show Boston's industrial past. For new concrete highway bridges. Concrete bridges just don't hold up...

Chain Forge Building | 105 First Avenue | Charlestown Navy Yard

It's an amazing space. Thanks for the pics. I'm really looking forward to this one.

Allston Yards (Stop and Shop) | 60 Everett St | Allston

Interesting. I love the "what we heard" section. I can't believe no one said "it's too tall and too dense." I think it's proposed as too similar to the @200' buildings at NB. More variety in height would be welcome.

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Re: 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District Pretty sure it's a pending City of Boston Landmark so it would be very difficult to tear down. There are a lot of people in town who really like that building.

New Red and Orange Line Cars

They certainly do on buses with that option--I see this as a huge improvement for people with strollers and wheelchairs. Even off peak bikes or luggage.

Northern Avenue Bridge Fort Point Channel

It's probably DPW, not the BPDA. And just because there are plans doesn't mean they are public. Sigh.
