Right, but this is different from the mid-town garage right? That garage is I believe up on Cumberland ave, but the mid town garage (site) is down closer to Intermed and whole foods etc. So do you guys think that's part of there project?

Where did you hear this? I heard that Tom (Watson) was self-parking in the old pub market garage ... I think the Midtown saga is fascinating as the City messed up such an opportunity there, and the project will continue to languish until both parties find something workable (not affordable...

Interesting, I wonder if there's any truth to that though. Seems to be a lot of rumors circulating regarding those parcels. I'd be curious to see who would take them on. Any guesses? Also, I don't think the City took the whole project, just a tiny piece of it - right?!? I've been wondering...

There was definitely a proposal for an even grander 10-story building on the Middle St. lot though. My former Muskie classmate, Sergio, who has since moved south, gave me the renderings for that one some time ago, which were / are posted on here somewhere. It also had a triangular roof.

Not sure if I missed something in the earlier thread but is this structure being torn down? Years ago it was proposed to be relocated when a Scarborough developer proposed a 12-story building there, right before the Great Recession.

Great to hear. I was under the impression the City did away with foundation permits a few years ago -- are you sure they will let you guys go that route? Also, isn't there like a peformance guarantee or something related to site work that could gum things up if the park isn't fully designed...

When the new postal facility was constructed in Scarborough a decade or more ago I thought it would have been a good move to vacate the in-town location and place the law school there. It already has the look of a higher education facility, I think. Will be interesting to see what they come up...

I agree ... however, I am confused ... are you referring to the Boulos proposal to build a 15-story tower on that site in 2007, or was there an earlier project too that I'm unaware of for the same site? I recall Boulos proposed the 17 story Top of the Old Port project in 2004, and then in 2005...

Would be interesting to see the East Brown Cow proposal for a 20+ story building shown here as well. I saw a rendering of that on here at one point from the same vantage point. Not sure if that project is still moving forward but it would be generally in the same neck of the woods.

Good looking but probably not as tall as shown. Resi buildings are per floor not as tall as commercial (One City Center). Drop this rendering a bit and it would be more accurate. My guess anyway ...

As I said above I’ll take either design and while not criticizing the current design (from my armchair) I think there is something to be said for more imposing bases, as they tend to be the sections of buildings that are more interacted with by the public (like a traditional town / cityscape...

I think it’s great that you’re sharing on here. Personally I liked the other design, but this one isn’t bad either. In my experience it’s impossible to make everyone happy but this approach is likely to get as close as possible to that (utilizing brick). I wonder if the dimensions are the same...

The midtown project from what I recollect had no TIF or city contribution (I believe it was all federal funding) so I’d guess it was the location as well. Good to see not too much pushback. My guess is that the pandemic also lessens the likelihood that protests will be held via zoom or whatever...

Personally I'd disagree because the planning board usually defers to staff, which writes the 1,000 page memos the planning board "skims" before voting. From time to time they will form their own opinions, but usually not. Nothing wrong with issuing comments to both though!
