Ah, hmm. I do not think that is right. Unless something very drastic or boneheaded happened, especially with this Forging Ahead stuff. Which is entirely possible. But I'm fairly certain that must be a typo.

This is all expected to be done enough for station opening August 2021, finishing touches wrapped up October 2021. Don't know where this end of 2022 stuff is evening coming from, but carry on.

    New Ideas for the Site

Could we get a Worcester / Central Mass and Providence / Rhode Island section? Looks like forum activity for these cities isn't what it used to be, but would be nice to foster it back.

More like 2 years to fully upgrade and test the signal system to accommodate trains stopping in the middle of a cluster of highly trafficked crossings. They need to update all the crossing circuitry to Predictors/Motion Sensing, make sure it works with the PTC and ATC installations, integrate...

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

Yes. This is how the last Rockburyport train would operate in the past. I'm not sure when that ended? Maybe 10 years ago? I suspect that the Gloucester Draw outage had some influence over this coming back. Rather than deadheading from West Gloucester to Boston, they deadhead only West Gloucester...

Rutherford Avenue to go on a diet!

Yes, as F-Line said, happened quite a while back. You can easily tell where the markings were removed though.

On MBTA trackage, with MBTA (Keolis) rules, and MBTA (Keolis) dispatching. Tim Mellon is irrelevant to what is deemed safe operating practice on a foreign road. If the high level is on a straightaway, there is no issue for Plate F's. Now, a potential wrinkle. What if CSX were to shift the flow...

Freight and General New England RR News

We run Plate F's past Anderson/Woburn all the time without an issue, no speed restriction, and we don't use Track 4 to avoid the platform. Whole cuts of Plate F's run back and forth between Lawrence and the Tighe warehouses at Walnut Hill and Montvale most nights of the week. Nobody goes and...

Rutherford Avenue to go on a diet!

Can we put some buffered bike lanes from Sullivan to the Gilmore Bridge already? The lane markings are wearing away, need some fresh paint anyway. The only option from anyone coming down from the Alford St Bridge right now is Main St in Charlestown (unless you take some out of the way diversion...

I see IRAP grant locations have come into question, so here's a map I made a few days ago: https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1OAWMOJEWVOOE_4RsitELhOmzEhfd4vgx&ll=42.46912149381943,-71.77407405000001&z=10 Blue: Pan Am customer Yellow: CSX customer Only one missing is Leominster Packaging...

DOBO/BODO (the gravel train) has been running on the Western Route because the New Hampshire Main Line now has cab signaling. The New Hampshire Northcoast does not have any cab signal locomotives. I'm not sure what their plan is, because eventually the Western Route will have them too.

Freight and General New England RR News

Negative. The gauntlet track is no longer a concern I've been informed. The MBTA has decided that wide moves are infrequent enough that they'll just pay for the cost of transload and trucking from a little further out. The only place passing sidings and gauntlets are still on the table for...

Fall River/New Bedford Commuter Rail (South Coast Rail)

A 5,000' long embankment eliminates 8 downtown Taunton grade crossings. Sounds worthwhile to eliminate so many crossings in such a short distance, especially for 1) better routing, 2) better station placement, and 3) direct GATRA hub transfer.

Bill Russell Bridge | North Washington St.

The Salem Turnpike/Rt 107's Belden-Bly Bridge on the Saugus/Lynn line has been "temporary" for years, and there is zero construction going on to build the new bridge. We should do bets on whether the Rourke or Belden Bly will be replaced first. https://goo.gl/maps/wJEheKPrCT6Wsw5dA

MBTA "Transformation" (Green Line, Red Line, & Orange Line Transformation Projects)

What about using the Tremont St tunnel south of Boylston to turn back GLX trains, and eliminate the Brattle Loop that way? Not only would the loop be eliminated, but the Red Line connection is maintained despite short turning downtown. Credit to Van for the original map which I modified for...

MassDOT Rail: Springfield Hub (East-West, NNERI, Berkshires, CT-Valley-VT-Quebec)

Yeah, but you go through bullshit Metro North-owned territory where I've never seen Amtrak break above 60. Not to mention all the curves and decrepit bridges with pitiful speed restrictions. BOS-NYP can be improved, higher-speed rail BOS-SPG can be done.

That map predates the SL3/SL Gateway project ever even getting funding or starting construction. The SL3 stations already have their final names. The only thing that has to happen is for the commuter rail station to move into its new permanent position.
