    Downtown Lynn

I have always found Lynn to be very frustrating. At the very least, Lynn should have a reasonably interesting and dense downtown like Lowell, yet it seems to be full of parking lots and vacant storefronts. I don't get it. It's very close to Boston and it's on the train line with the most...

Massachusetts State Flag (we need a better state flag)

I was complaining about the Mass flag last week, when I decided to look up some examples of some other state flags. Aside from a few good ones, most state flags are crap.

Canopy by Hilton (née Haymarket Hotel) | Blackstone St | Parcel 9 | Greenway

I've been pretty absent from archboston for a while now and was searching for this thread for a while. Thankfully a kind soul pointed me in the right direction. I'm ecstatic that this is finally getting done. It amazes me how long it's taken to fill in the missing parcels near the old SE...

    🔹 What's Happening With Project X?

Hey everyone. I haven't been to Boston in a while, but could someone tell me the status of the Haymarket Hotel (111 North Street)? Have they started construction? Is anything happening? Thanks,

    Boston Skyline Photos

To be honest, I still can't get use to that 4 Seasons Tower taking away some of my attention from the Hancock and Pru. I'm sure it'll grow on me eventually.

Mmmm... Pizza (Discuss Your Favorite Slice)

When I lived in NYC, I thought the dollar slices were usually terrible. To be honest, in some ways I thought NYC pizza was overrated. Most places were just mediocre, but when you found a good one, it was better than anywhere else in the country (except New Haven). I think NYC has a reputation...

The Bon | 1260 Boylston Street | Fenway

I was talking to a gay man from Boston not too long ago and he said he believed that the gay bars were closing BECAUSE of Boston's acceptance of homosexuals. Basically, he said that gays were being discriminated against less, so they no longer felt like they needed specific bars of their own to...

How Tall Are Boston's Buildings and Should They Be Taller?

I don't know. I haven't been to Shanghai in a while, but I was in Hong Kong last week and I wasn't that impressed. Almost too many tall buildings, I felt overwhelmed and lacking certain neighborhood qualities. I live in Kuala Lumpur and it seems like everyday they're tearing down an old...

    Local Politics Thread

Thank you for expressing the exact reason why we can't have nice things in our country. In order to win, the other side must lose. Win-lose. Zero sum. etc etc etc. We are good, and they are bad. We are right, and they are wrong. Your mentality is the biggest reason why struggle to make...

    [CANCELED] Summer St. Gondola

I'm all for it. Sure I'd love more busses or even a trolley system there, but this project will do more than just transport people. It will create a certain unique neighbourhood character.

Kuala Lumpur is a cool city and it's developing at lightning speed. It may be more of a 24 hour city than Boston, but I still prefer Boston.

There are plenty of things to do in Kuala Lumpur late at night. Bars and clubs in the city close anywhere between 2 and 5, depending on the jurisdiction, and you'll find more 24 food stalls and eateries than you can count. In my suburb, bars close at 2am but I can think of at least one that...

One thing that bothers me is when people complain that Boston isn't world class because the trains close at 1230 or 1. I live in Kuala Lumpur and I left a friends party to run to catch a train home and I missed the last one for the night. It was 1145 pm

Assembly Square Infill and Small Developments | Somerville

K-mart the company or just that branch? I worked at K-mart in Billerica as a HS and college student in 1996-97. Even then we were worried that it would close down. The one in Billerica is still open, and I'd imagine this one will stay open for the foreseeable future.
