Midtown Hotel Redevelopment | 220 Huntington Avenue | Back Bay

They should be forced to take the hippocratic oath before joining the board...first do no harm.

Midtown Hotel Redevelopment | 220 Huntington Avenue | Back Bay

Honest to god...the BCDC is the absolute worst. Every bloody time they get their hands on the designs they get markedly less attractive.

Marine Wharf (Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites) | 660 Summer St | Seaport

How and why the BPDA and BCDC could allow this bait and switch to happen is beyond me.

MGH Ragon Building | 55 Fruit Street | West End

That's the dumbest looking facadectomy I've ever seen. Aside from that, this massing is WAAAAY too blocky. Break it down and give it some relief. Not a great effort IMHO.

Marine Wharf (Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites) | 660 Summer St | Seaport

It baffles me as to why the BPDA would allow the developer to cheapen the design so dramatically.

The Quinn (née The Berkeley) | 370-380 Harrison Ave | South End

It's a shame there has been no corresponding effort to fix up the street itself. The median strip and lighting on that section of Harrison is pretty tired looking.

Kenmore Square North (WHOOP) | 533-541 Commonwealth Ave | Fenway

BCDC really manages to eff up the design process more often than not...

South Boston Innovation Campus | 2 Harbor Street | Seaport

Gaawd this is all such a damn wasted opportunity...it's all so anti urban. Completely unfriendly to the pedestrian...it's just nice looking suburban office park architecture. I'm a broken record, but this does nothing to enhance marine industry. The entire raison d'etre of this district makes no...

    Marine Industrial Park | Seaport

Hey this is great and all but it belies the fact that this is a “marine industrial park”. It’s a joke. We are rapidly creating not a light industrial area for marine industry, but a bland biotech park hodgepodge. And it continues, of course, to exacerbate the traffic issue that plagues the area...

    Marine Industrial Park | Seaport

Sure it did. Plans to move the widett operations were already in advanced discussions.

    Marine Industrial Park | Seaport

Regardless it’s all a moot point. Massport has squandered the resource for the last 20 years and they control it until 2070...during which time I would expect results as underwhelming as we’ve seen so far.

    Marine Industrial Park | Seaport

No the BPDA said that marine related industrial uses are in declining demand. That is a market observation not a parcel specific analysis. you can bet that if there were demand for marine related industrial space we would not have an HVAC fabrication facility in 157,000 sq ft on the waterfront.

    Marine Industrial Park | Seaport

In addition I cited specific conclusions from the BPDA report of 2017 which updated their master plan which cited a declining demand for marine related industrial use.

    Marine Industrial Park | Seaport

Well there’s one thing I haven’t been up until now which is an arrogant prick about it which you’ve been consistently throughout this as well as insulting. I acknowledged I made a mistake on the Massport/BPDA control issue. You keep referencing these reports and the conclusions they’ve drawn but...

    Marine Industrial Park | Seaport

No, market demand is what locates law offices consultancies, and other white-collar jobs in places like downtown Boston. An artificial market regulation is what results in Au Bon Pain and a Kohler showroom with a suburban parking lot ending up in the Seaport. Yes I do suppose that urban living...

    Marine Industrial Park | Seaport

I've read some of their reports...in 2002 they say there is current demand...and yet here we are two decades later and nothing has changed. https://www.massport.com/media/2870/mmt-development-issues-and-alternatives-analysis-executive-summary-12-2002.pdf What the hell are they going to say...

    Marine Industrial Park | Seaport

My mistake on the control of the undeveloped land that is controlled by Massport in the Industrial park. That said, the BPDA's own report identifies the declining viability of marine related industrial uses. That Massport would commission studies that suggest long term prospects for port related...

    Marine Industrial Park | Seaport

Who said anything about getting rid of the Conley marine terminal??? I was explicitly talking about the Flynn Marine Industrial Park which is not controlled by Massport but rather the BPDA. The BPDA itself says the following in its recent masterplan update: "As the economic analysis of the...

    Marine Industrial Park | Seaport

If the ships don't need to pull up to the dock then the facilities don't need to be on the water do they? If the fish are coming from New Bedford and Gloucester and only a fraction are even being processed in Boston then they need not be immediately on the pier.
