    Academic Building @ Suffolk U | 20 Somerset Street | Beacon Hill

PS...don't blame this on suffolk...this is the fault of uncle Tommy and the nimbys he listened to on the Hill.

    Academic Building @ Suffolk U | 20 Somerset Street | Beacon Hill

20 Somerset was a bland old building. I toured it several times...and it was adrift in its new environment. Surrounded by the state buildings it looked out of place and was never really exceptional. This project should have been (and who knows, may someday be with a new mayor) a 20-30 story dorm...

Twenty Two Liberty @ Fan Pier | 22 Liberty Drive - Parcel C | Seaport

Re: Twenty Two Liberty @ Fan Pier | 22 Liberty Drive | Seaport yeah...more Vancouver, please.

Twenty Two Liberty @ Fan Pier | 22 Liberty Drive - Parcel C | Seaport

Re: Twenty Two Liberty @ Fan Pier | 22 Liberty Drive | Seaport Wow. That looks infinitely better than the other render...love the way the facade steps back along with the curve of fan pier. If the glass is as nice as it is in this render the project will be a major success.

Twenty Two Liberty @ Fan Pier | 22 Liberty Drive - Parcel C | Seaport

Re: Twenty Two Liberty @ Fan Pier | 22 Liberty Drive | Seaport The "inlet" or whatever it is may be cooler than appears from the plan. If you look at the images used as precedents it seems like that may turn out to be some kind of stone water feature...perhaps a waterfall of harbor water?

Twenty Two Liberty @ Fan Pier | 22 Liberty Drive - Parcel C | Seaport

Re: Twenty Two Liberty @ Fan Pier | 22 Liberty Drive | Seaport I wonder if they are intelligently making provisions to ensure that critical infrastructure such as elevators and other electrical components will be able to function soon after a flood. I would assume they would use marine grade...

Twenty Two Liberty @ Fan Pier | 22 Liberty Drive - Parcel C | Seaport

Re: Twenty Two Liberty @ Fan Pier | 22 Liberty Drive | Seaport They are actually up on the BRA site...you have to look at the presentation to the BCDC...I kinda like the rendering. There is also a rendering of another Fan Pier residential/hotel building that looks a lot like one marina park...

Landmark Ctr. Expansion Plans | Fenway

Samuels is brilliant...this is going to be fantastic. I have a feeling he will be borrowing from Eataly in New York...hopefully it will evoke the type of market feeling that exists in Europe.

Fogg Art Museum Addition | 32 Quincy Street | Cambridge

Re: Fogg Art Museum Addition I'm encouraged to hear that the cladding is wood. I thought it was metal. The weathering effect may warm up what is a very bland looking wall. That said, I'd be surprised if that effect makes the design feel cohesive. I will admit I haven't seen the building in...

Lovejoy Wharf - Hoffman Building | 160 North Washington Street | West End

Re: Lovejoy Wharf Ehhh...I think Stern is lousy. The new design looks looks kind of like 265 Franklin Street with those crappy "steps" in the facade.

    Rose Kennedy Greenway

I'm really liking it too...to me, os gemeos looked like a giant simpsons character...it was a fun and unexpected diversion but I don't really think it added much to the area aesthetically.

Dorm Tower @ Berklee College of Music | 168 Mass Ave | Back Bay

Re: Berklee Expansion Plans I'm skeptical about the facade. I'm not sure how that material is going to hold up. I've seen that corrugated metal look very dingy very quickly. Guess it depends on the quality.

Forecaster Building Addition |121-127 Portland Street | West End

Re: The Forecaster Building (121-127 Portland St.) Piling on? I don't know what you're talking about. I just have never seen two bedroom units in which none of the bedrooms have windows. It's not uncommon to have 1 bed plus dens...the dens have no windows...that's exactly what makes them dens...

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Re: Trans National Place (Winthrop Square) Part 2 I've never got the Toronto appeal. I wasn't terribly impressed. But the venezuelans aren't going there. I've got a number of Venezuelan friends and they have colonized greater Miami. Canada seems to get a larger proportion of Asian immigrants...

Forecaster Building Addition |121-127 Portland Street | West End

Re: The Forecaster Building (121-127 Portland St.) A few notes: Those plans are strange. Most of the "bedrooms" don't have windows. You can't even legally call them bedrooms. Also, this is a pizzutti development. Looks like the sister of Mrs. John Henry is running the show.

Seaport Square (Formerly McCourt Seaport Parcels)

The most important component of this building will be the groundfloor retail...if the BRA has done its job the lobby entrance will be relatively small and there will many many retail outlets facing the street. I hope we don't get a liberty mutual type monolith in this regard.

Millennium (Hayward) Place | 580 Washington Street | Downtown

Re: Millennium Place III | Hayward Place Millennium Place III was smart...there are a lot of smaller size units and they can hit the right price points while doing well on a PSF basis. Both the W and 45 went too big. They missed the buying demo.

    Rose Kennedy Greenway

Agreed on keeping the Rowe's parcel unchanged...Rowes Wharf really shines with an unimpeded view. It shouldn't be crowded. If New Center ever gets its act together I'd love to see it in Dewey Square. The likelihood of Mass Hort pulling its act together is remote. It should be a competition of...

    225 Centre @ Jackson Square | 225 Centre Street | Jamaica Plain

    225 Centre @ Jackson Square | 225 Centre Street | Jamaica Plain

Re: Jackson Square/225 Centre To your point, At this point in time in MA, the average package of welfare benefits (including housing) exceeds the state's median income. For those fortunate enough to get an affordable unit at 225 centre, their total package will likely exceed 60k if they have a...
