    Cambridge Crossing (NorthPoint) | East Cambridge/Charlestown | Cambridge/Boston

A symptom of the 5+1 construction fetish. Cheap, easy, and profitable for developers. Fine, even preferable, in outlying commuter rail zone 3 TOD areas, but problematic in dense areas when we have a housing crunch. You could feasibly double the units on the 4 buildings on the left hand side.

One Post Office Square Makeover and Expansion | Financial District

Absolutely. Or a crown. Something other than a flat roof. I look forward to seeing more renderings of this!

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

definitely. ferries depend on the geography more than anything else. Hingham and Hull are perfect since the ferry saves a bunch of time during rush hour as the water-distance is much shorter (and because I93 is so broken) but in most circumstances... it's a white elephant politicos love but do...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

Sure. I don't disagree that the whole cost structure of the commuter rail is bananas and that the CR as a product can be awful (no subway or bus integration for fares, no coordination with timetables with other modes, horrendous frequencies, poor on time performance, etc.) making the fares seem...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

There is no reason on earth why the price to ride a standing room only, packed to the gills 6 pack express train heading into south station for 8:30 on a Tuesday should cost as much as a train heading in the opposite direction making all stops with 1 passenger per car. The T is forfeiting money...

    Crazy Transit Pitches

This analysis is pretty good, and I 100% agree that the answer lies in the bus system and a reallocation/enhancement of existing lines to better serve the population. I propose the following crazy transit pitch: BRT lanes (separated from all other traffic a la Silver Line Chelsea) from...

The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Re: The Boston Garden (TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End I've got no problem with the buildings being '500 each (and they look to be about that), but given the very many developable plots around here I wish this established a more tall/thin vernacular rather than a ren and...

3200 Washington St. | Egleston Sq. | Jamaica Plain

the idea of a developer rehabbing a "problem property" is an absolutely phenomenal idea and should really be a key tenet for any development in a "transitional" area it's amazing how one or two properties can drag down a whole area. one place I lived in had one of these double triple deckers a...

Skanska Office Tower | 380 Stuart Street | Back Bay

To echo what everyone else is saying this proposal is far too small and "Boston" for the parcel and should be 3x as tall. There is precedent for height here and there is no lacking for demand for residential on high floors. They'd make an absolute killing. This stretch has this very unique...

Design a Better Boston Food Truck Park

Re: Skanska Fenway Project (Burger King) | 1350 Boylston Street | Fenway Not to derail this thread - but I never understood my generation's fascination with food trucks. What makes them so popular? I don't get it. Why is it a "scene" nowadays?

    Waltham Infill and Small Developments

sad that there's a great urban downtown just a mile away but "no one can get there from here" just imagine if 1/4th that office space were appropriately developed downtown. it would be kendall 2.0.

Rio Grande (née Dudley Square Residential Tower) | Washington St. | Roxbury

Re: Dudley Square Residential Tower | Washington St. | Roxbury what do we think are the prospects of this going through? it appears that the development team has the blessing of the community (no small feat) but has this team completed projects of this scope in the past? I hope so. More...

MBTA Winter 2015: Failure and Recovery

it's a matter of degree. what's being reported of course will never mention the debt service costs saddling the T - probably the single, easiest thing that they could fix that would yield the best results - but instead brings up crap that at best will yield 1-2%. i'll be SHOCKED if they mention...

MBTA Winter 2015: Failure and Recovery

I mean it's pretty obvious what the game plan is here, and that will be to starve the T as much as possible. These articles are intentionally trying to mislead the public and it's sickening. I'd expect drastic service cuts coming in the next few months.
