    southwest expressway...

This guy's got it. Not only are there NIMBY's, but the area leaves a lot to be desired. Plus it's still a bit dodgy (at least, people's perception of it is). The highway connections aren't bad; get off on the Mass Ave connector and you're there in roughly 5-10 mins from the SE Expressway...

    Storrow Drive tunnel replacement

Oh I understand where you're coming from, sure. I'm in client service. Main office is in Back Bay but I travel around the region depending on the client. I'm primarily a driver. But I look at it this way: 1. Pike is undercapacity w/in 128. 2. Memorial Drive is across the river. 3. Blue ->...

    Storrow Drive tunnel replacement

My idea has always been to add ramps to the Pike, eliminate Storrow as a highway, put the Blue Line in a (relatively) cheap box tunnel, with stations at the Hatch Shell and Mass Ave, put on top of the box handsome buildings a-la the rest of the Back Bay, and a street called "Esplanade Road"...

    Missing HSR Corridor Designations

No kidding. The Albany area has been promised HSR for decades now. I remember as a kid when they got the Turboliners...of course, now I'm in my 20s and there's absolutely no sign of it ever happening. And it won't- it doesn't make much of a difference to downstaters, and the rest of upstate...

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Re: South Station Tower Conceptually I think that a tower over South Station is a much improved proposal. In other threads we discuss the loss of grit, grime, and most importantly...character, in much of the greater I'll say "downtown" Boston area. A downtown casino is very much a way to add...

MBTA Red Line / Blue Line Connector

OL via Chelsea I don't think would be a good idea. 1/2 the amount of trains to Malden? Meh.... Blue is more direct and would most likely be cheaper and faster. Blue -> Red frees up space on the green, red, and orange lines. This reduces dwell times at stations and increases timeliness of trains...

Avalon North Station | Nashua Street Residences | West End

Re: Nashua Street Residences (North Station) Yeah but I think Riff is getting at the "character" that used to permeate the area, like it used to in Kenmore. You know, uniqueness, sense of place. Something difficult to achieve with Archstone this, Avalon that, the Millenium city. Can't...

    Urban Ring

I agree that these spurs will handle the vast majority of the needs of the urban ring. Especially north of the Charles. I like the idea of Sullivan becoming a key transfer point. My only concern is linking Dudley/Ruggles/Kenmore. That's a huge transit gap. I don't think a green line spur to...

Photo of the Day, Boston Style: Part V (2012)

Word. I see 2-3 Bentley's or Aston Martin's whenever I'm the Back Bay. Rarely, if ever, do I see a Ferrari or Lamborghini, much less that awesome Veyron. Maybe it's the old money/conservative (meaning non-flashy) nature of Boston's elite. Or perhaps the winter.

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Re: Trans National Place (Winthrop Square) Part 2 I don't think that anything "too tall" would throw Boston's skyline out of whack. The Hancock and Pru are substantially taller than anything else in the Back Bay - I don't think that we would argue that they're really out of place.
