Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Re: 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District God this thing is an embarrassment. Shorter, squatter, uglier. Even the "great hall" is worse. The shape isn't even the worse part. The facade looks like it was designed by a two year old on LSD. And I don't think making it shorter will help...

Exactly. It's an icon, and to demolish it would be a travesty.

How Tall Are Boston's Buildings and Should They Be Taller?

Pathetic cities with nothing going for them try to build massive, one-shot edifices in the hope of making themselves look great. Sure, I would love to see a massive building in Boston, but I just want to remind everyone here how ridiculous these rust-belt/silicon prairie ego-trips are. No one...

    Boston in the 1960's

I wish you could still find sights in Boston that looked like this-seedy, urban, cool, and beautiful in a way.

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Re: 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District I could see how that could be annoying, but it probably could work. There would already be alot of visitors at the retail portion, and they could make an elevator that didn't go to people's homes.

I was just thinking that. Centre Pompidou meets Boston City Hall.

    Can Boston do anything right?

I wouldn't mind a few more non-glass buildings on the skyline, from an aesthetic point of view.

    Ode to Brutalism

I don't mind the concrete in between the windows-when it has something to break it up. but when you have a sheer concrete facade it is an eyesore.

I have to disagree there. I really dislike 80s music, but I could see how that could be nostalgic/.
