The best kept secret at Logan is the security checkpoint between Terminals C and E. If you get there before the international crowds get in, you can be through in two minutes (with PreCheck).

Landed last night at E14 and let me tell you, it is an absolute hike to get to customs from there. It's just one really long and relatively narrow corridor. No pics, because I was in a hurry, but there's noting aesthetically stunning about the space, save for the wall of windows on your left.

Did this yesterday at LHR. Flew AMS-LHR on KLM, landing at Heathrow Terminal 4. Flew LHR-BOS on VS out of Terminal 3. Two hour layover, but muust have landed during a slow period, because we were at our new gate in about 40 minutes, including the bus transfer and security.

Per MassDOT, project is going to Final Design (100% design package was submitted last month). I frequent this corridor and the intersection at Euclid is really tight, with insufficient storage space on Broadway for vehicles looking to make a left onto Euclid. And Jenness Street is used as a...

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

According to wiki, B6 has 6 321LRs in service with orders for 8 more and an additional order for 13 321XLRs. Spirit only has 319/20/21 100/200/NEOs in service. No reason they'd need XLRs in their fleet for any of their routes.

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

BOS-LHR on UA was the only Star Alliance flight available. Perhaps the surcharges imposed at LHR was a factor and people who are tied to SA prefer to take LH to Munich/Frankfurt instead as a means of getting to Europe?

TBH, MassDOT has been much more adamant in their reviews of my projects about ensuring temporary (and sufficient) pedestrian access during construction.

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

I've flown BOS-MEX twice now, both times on Delta flights connecting at JFK. The first time, Aerommexico direct was an option, but IIRC the flight times to Mexico were incredibly weird.

I flew in/out of DOH for the World Cup back in November and December (with a side trip to Cairo) and that airport experience there was simply incredible. The architecture, the indoor gardens, the huge teddy bear, the soaring ceilings were amazing.

The only problem is that more often than not, the grates have a chamfered corner so that they sit in the frames in only one orientation. To fix the problem for bicyclists, MassDOT would have to dig up the entire casting and rotate it 90 degrees and repair the asphalt around it. And that's only...

Had a Wal-Mart 18 wheeler doing 85 in the left lane a couple of weeks ago who got really aggressive with me. He was in the left lane with the middle and right lanes wide open.

Flew YUL-LGA-BOS last Sunday evening. People on the LGA-BOS had transfers. Those going to DUB were fine as we were at Gate A22 and that flight departed Gate A19. But anyone going internationally anywhere else were screwed as they had to go all the way to the main terminal the the extreme...

The project in question is MassDOT #606448. If you refer to Addendum #1 issued for this contract, there was a question by a prospective contractor regarding the scuppers. In response, a revised detail was provided for the scuppers showing the grates. Now, if you look at said detail, it clearly...

That is not a MassDOT standard grate. MassDOT standards call for cast iron and the grate in question is some sort of steel or steel alloy. Nor does that look like any MassDOT standard type grate, design-wise. Furthermore, per the standards, bar grates are not to be used on "facilities where...

As a traffic engineer, it pains me to see newly constructed islands where the curb reveal is less than 6" for no apparent reason. The use of sloped granite edging here (as opposed to vertical granite) is usually done to allow for some sort of vehicular accommodation (in this case it could be...

From this article, its sounds as if Spirit would be merged into the B6 operation and the separate branding would go away: "If approved, the combined carrier would be led by Hayes and remain headquartered in New York under the JetBlue brand. Spirit’s brand would eventually disappear."

    Traffic Signals

As someone who once worked as a staff Engineer (and plow) for a town northwest of Boston, the counterpoint to this is the need for additional drainage structures to drain the water that gets trapped by the raised impediments and that these are hell for snowplow operations in the winter.

    Traffic Signals

The MUTCD is the governing guidance for signal design in this country, save for state amendments. Not adhering to the MUTCD leaves a designer completely liable for anything that might happen as a result of the signal design. Furthermore, the use of two signal heads to serves as a de-facto...
