Stanhope Hotel | 39 Stanhope Street | Back Bay

Too bad the tower design isn't high-quality. That said, put me down as a yes.

    Park 151 | 151 N First Street | Cambridge Crossing | East Cambridge

Are they cheapos or is there a reason they landscape with nothing but mulch?

Encore Boston Harbor Casino | 1 Broadway | Everett

Unless Wynn gets caught up in the local hype and sits the 500-room hotel on top of a 12-story lab building.

Omni Hotel @ BCEC | Summer St | Seaport

@DZH22 - I stayed there a little over a year ago and yes, it is massive. It feels like the Copley Weston or Marriott, or even a Vegas hotel.

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

In NYC, they just opened the GCT-Jamaica LIRR station connection. Now you can get from the LIRR to MetroNorth RR without going into Penn, then taking the A and then S trains (about 20 minutes) to GCT. People are going nuts over it. It takes 4.5 minutes to get from the street level to the...

Foundation Medicine (Parcel P) | 400 Summer Street | Seaport

I mean I like that corner with the road under it, but it looks too much like the Port Authority bus terminal for me:

    EB80 | 80 East Berkeley | South End

From that picture, the building looks like its going to tip and fall on me.

Dick’s House of Sports | Prudential Center | Back Bay

    1. I think this would be best for a demo and a rebuild as residential or mixed residential/commercial. However, I have no idea what is underneath this site and whatever other zoning BS or shadow laws would prevent from putting something vertical here. 2. With the above said, I was at the...

    525 Linc | 525 Lincoln Street | Allston

I watched a documentary on this type of wood construction and from a non-engineer, this stuff looks cheap, but is not cheap at all and has supposedly good fire ratings. I also found out 5-over-1 is not called that bc its 5 floors of wood over 1 floor of concrete. It has to do with the wood...

    NYC Architecture and Development

So cool to see this area get further developed. However, it is not exactly the most appealing area with the Harlem River on one side and the Major Deegan on the other.

    Maxwell | 35 Garvey Street | Everett

And from a living perspective, aside from the fancy high rises I have lived in NYC, my first residence when I moved to Minneapolis was a brand new 5-over-1 development - the kind we all cringe over (I literally saw Alucobond branding on panels, etc.) - it was the nicest place I have ever lived...

    Maxwell | 35 Garvey Street | Everett

If Boston was not one of the most expensive places in the US and on Earth to rent an apartment, largely driven by the scarcity of apartments, I would give more F's that this place is dull and cheap looking. This 5 over 1 stuff is very cost-efficient and if we have to have lots of dull stuff in...

    Maxwell | 35 Garvey Street | Everett

To the negative aesthetics comments, I know it is not inspiring or exciting, but it is badly needed new housing. These projects might not last 500 years, but while they look cheap, they are fairly well made vs stuff built in the 1970's and 1980's.

The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

@chrisbrat - that first picture tho. 🔥 So hard to imagine that was once a seedy stretch of Causeway with a clunky old El train running through it.

I hear your points and as a former Northeasterner. I couldn't believe it myself until I experienced it. 1. Wind - once you leave the northeast, especially Boston, you notice the lack of constant wind. Getting knocked around by the wind and being consistently exposed to it is impactful on...

    Minneapolis | Twin Cities

I take a twin cities winter all day over Boston. NYC is a toss-up. Yes, it gets colder here, however, we really have 8 bad weeks - all of January and February (low 20's with a few weeks of daytime highs below zero). December and March are regular cold (~30 degrees). What we do not have here...

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

I love these pictures that span 1600's era streets with 1800's buildings and as you climb upwards, you have 20th-century buildings and then our present and future gleaming above it all in shimmery glass. So few cities can pull this off.

I was thinking it was a Crate and Barrell. I may be wrong or really dating myself in the 15+ years since I left Boston.
