In 2020, they'll still be working on drainage and retaining walls, which will cost 3 billion dollars, for some reason.

General Electric HQ (Necco Buildings Reno) | 5 Necco Street | Fort Point

Re: General Electric HQ | 244-284 A Street | Fort Point A helipad in Fort Point is absurd. They're within sight of Logan and perched on a highway interchange leading directly to the airport. There's no need for this.

Harvard Square Infill and Small Developments

Step 1 - Find well-liked, heavily-used space that developed organically over time. Step 2 - Start bemoaning how "bad" this well-liked, heavily-used space is and how it needs to be "refreshed" and "fixed". Step 3 - Erase everything about it. Step 4 - Create a new, sterile space and spend a...

New Red and Orange Line Cars

I don't think you understand how commercial aviation works. *Pilot falls asleep* *Copilot get annoyed* *Autopilot continues to function* *Pilot sent to the cabin for a nap and gets a nasty reprimand from the airline after landing*

321 Harrison Ave | South End

The "curving facade with white vinyl siding" motif will never die.

Yotel Hotel | SPSQ parcel J | 65 Seaport Blvd | South Boston Waterfront

How well do girder slabs handle sound insulation between floors vs. a more traditional metal deck + thin layer of concrete setup?

I know, I was pretty much convinced that actual masonry was illegal now.

That roof looks like it's in... um... amazing shape.

    Seaport Transportation

I've only ridden that stretch a few times in the past year. Didn't experience the endless wait to cross of trips past, but I couldn't tell if I got lucky, or if it was actually working better. The State Police onramp is the elephant in the room that needs to be addressed. There's no reason why...

Pier 4 Condo Building (Former Anthony's site) | Seaport

Re: Pier 4 Commercial-Condo Building (Former Anthony's site) | Seaport I can't imagine why people would bash a blank-slate neighborhood that has produced collection of mostly garbage-tier designs over the better part of two decades. A few recent gems doesn't undo years and years of mediocrity...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

We tried that with the 28X. Community leaders got extremely upset that they weren't approached in just the right way. There was no time, really. It was a choice between getting money for a shovel-ready stimulus project and moving forward quickly, or not doing anything at all in our lifetimes.

Been there, don that. Within five years, the State will agree to build 250 commuter rail parking spaces in exchange for the CLF dropping its lawsuit.

New FBI Headquarters | Everett Avenue | Chelsea

The new federal courthouse in downtown LA raises the bar on inexpensive, but quality government architecture. The pictures really don't do it justice, the glass panels are simply stunning in person, and the built-in sunshades add a lot of depth.

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

This is easily my favorite photo of the entire thread up 'till this point. It really captures the scale of the building like nothing else I've seen before. Very well done!

Piedmont Park Square (Coconut Grove site) | 21 Piedmont Street | Bay Village

I agree on the brickwork. As for the creepy nature of the site, a lot of places in major, older cities have experienced quite a bit of death over the years. Most of it has been lost to history, but even the most prominent sites are still routinely used by people who don't seem to mind. (i.e...

Echelon Seaport | 133-135 Seaport Blvd | Seaport

Re: Seaport Parcels M1-M2 | Seaport Sq. | Seaport Ideally it would, but there's a pervasive and long-standing mentality of "What made Boston Boston worked once upon a time but we can never do that again. This cookie cutter approach that has been used countless times to create soulless...

Echelon Seaport | 133-135 Seaport Blvd | Seaport

Re: Seaport Parcels M1-M2 | Seaport Sq. | Seaport The Seaport was designed to reject every urban planning concept that made Boston Boston. The Seaport is the sour aftertaste of West End urban renewal. Same mistakes, only this time they started with a truly blank canvas.
