I am working on a large project behind here so see this place often. So much more could have been done to make this a standout project but it's just there. Nothing impressive about it.

As we all should be aware by now, until anything is put out for bid for construction and often even after, actual designs are fluid and can change significantly. I am keeping an open mind about this project. From a design perspective I actually kind of like it. We will see if that changes...

Except you are forgetting that aesthetics is a major influence on user experience. I've been a designer (landscape, interior and exterior, graphic) for over 45 years. A mis-step in design of any one aspect of a project can ruin the entire experience for the end user.

Though I have NO knowledge regarding GPL's stance or involvement in preserving/restoring the Abyssinian Meeting House, if they were not 150% supportive of that then they have no place being involved in historic p-reservation in Portland at all. That certainly would be hypocritcal on their part...

Portland should not think about building a new arena that doesn't seat at least 18-20k at the minimum. Otherwise we'll just end up with another arena that doesn't allow for thinking big about hosting anything.
