Pier 4 Condo Building (Former Anthony's site) | Seaport

You just reminded me I've been wondering what the technical term for those things is for years, but never think about when I actually have access to the internet. We just call them JLGs at work. ... Apparently they are boom lifts. Finally cleared up that mystery for myself, thanks for reminding me.

    The New Retail Thread

When landlords raise rents to insane levels just as an economy stagnates prior to a recession... At least they're about to get that greed slapped out of them pretty hard, soon.

Honestly, I had shown a picture of this to my Watertown resident relative, and her response might have been the look they were going for that I had never thought of - "It looks like a cruise ship!"

The ceremonial dirt thing looks more bizarre than usual in that image.

Quaker Lane + Congress Square | Downtown

I'm extremely envious of everyone who has these incredibly nice working environments. I guess that's what I get for working for the federal government I guess. The stuff I look at all day is just outright depressing.

Ah, I see I was a bit premature after all.

It is, but I think Boston could do ok doing one moderately big project at a time. Like finish glx, move on to red to blue connector. All while doing a boat load of smaller improvements across the system.

Well, European competition meant that meant it was really easy for business travellers to re-route their trip through laptop friendly countries, meaning the hit in traffic was very immediate.

So I'm guessing from the lack of angry ranting in here the T survived the snow, ice, and extreme cold of the past few days. So congrats, unless that's premature and you're all stuck on a disabled train right now, unable to post.

They aren't doing any of that cheaply. I think the big dig traumatized multiple generations, people are hesitant to commit to any large project that could have similar ballooning costs. My childhood memories of Boston are marred by the constant construction and insane traffic created by the big...

Yeah, I think they dropped it around the time of the laptop ban.

Idyl Fenway | 60 Kilmarnock St | Fenway

You really sort of could add ground level retail at that rate, as long as suburban style retail keeps dying out like it is. Thing is, I noticed right before the last recession lots of restaurants and shops closing not due to financial issues, but the owners just feeling it was a good time to...

Sounded like a Boston accent with a speech impediment or an outsider doing a terrible job of mimicking the accent. Yes, that's what it sounded like!

What's up with the narrator in that video? I don't think I've ever witnessed a promotional video with a narrator with a speech impediment until now...

Raffles Boston (40 Trinity Place) | 426 Stuart Street | Back Bay

I'm pretty sure there would be plenty of demand if prices weren't insane. Like I mentioned before, I can stay in far more luxurious hotels in most other major cities for what I pay for the average room in Boston. And I spend weekends in Boston during the offseason! Anyone who's casually looking...

Wtf?! They are an extremely conservative lender and their current strength might be owing to the fact that they were relatively unscathed in the last recession.

Raffles Boston (40 Trinity Place) | 426 Stuart Street | Back Bay

Yeah, I find it surprising that the ultra-luxury crowd in a global city like boston wouldn't at least recognize the name. I think they might be pitching this to the wrong investors. The luxury end of Boston's hotel market might be saturated, but there's such a lack of supply at the lower end...
